The government's fiscal year starts on October 1st, which means this is when organizations learn whether or not they've received large grants. For the nonprofits that rely heavily on that funding, this can be a make or break time for their sustainability. Lotus Foundation's founders strove (and continue to strive) to ensure our organization does not depend on competitive funding, which is one of the many ways we are unique.
