𝗧𝗵𝗲 #𝟭 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲... ... lack of practice. Here I am, captured while speaking at a Women in Business conference, honoured with an educational scholarship. My journey into public speaking began at the tender age of 8, delivering annual talks at church and participating in 4-H public presentations. With my mom's guidance, we embarked on a schedule of daily 10-minute practice sessions. Her wisdom that consistency trumps cramming has been a cornerstone of my growth. Over a decade, I honed my skills through 2 to 3 public presentations annually, later expanding my horizon by stepping into a public figure role for two years. This phase of my journey involved extemporaneous speaking, memorized speeches, and organizational representation. My commitment to practice extended through my academic years, contributing to my reputation as a distinguished public speaker—a testament to over 20 years of dedication. Pro Tip: Seize every dinner party as an invaluable practice session for public speaking. Each time you're at the dinner table, whether with family or friends, take the opportunity to share a story, an idea, or an experience. This setting is perfect for honing your storytelling skills, engaging with a live audience, and receiving immediate feedback in a low-pressure environment. Regular practice in these casual gatherings can significantly enhance your confidence and eloquence, making formal public speaking engagements feel like just another friendly conversation. #PublicSpeakingTips #PracticeMakesPerfect #Storytelling #ConfidenceBuilding #CommunicationSkills #DinnerTableTalks #PersonalDevelopment #Networking #LeadershipSkills #EverydayLearning

Here is how my mother shaped my passion for public speaking. I grew up in a church-centered environment, guided by the principles of my mother, whose greatest mission has always been to bring more people to the Lord (those who know her are nodding right now). With that foundation came the development of key skills, public speaking through verse memorization and recitals (my son is already catching on), singing in the church choir, preaching to the masses on Sabbath, and joining Pathfinder. My mother’s intention (as she always says) was to build my confidence and pave a path for me. To this day, I have yet to see anyone who can command and connect with an audience quite like my mu. It’s no surprise that my passion and enthusiasm for speaking come directly from her. Her mantra? “Plan, Prepare, Go, and Perform” Here are three tips from my mother's matra. 📌Prepare with Purpose: She emphasizes the importance of Understanding your audience and the message you want to convey. Always know the key takeaways you want them to remember, and tailor your message to meet their needs and expectations. 📌Plan Your Flow: She says, don’t be disorganized please. Organize your speech with a clear beginning, middle, and end. Tell stories where possible, give examples, and transition well to guide your audience through your message effortlessly. 📌Perform with Confidence: This was her emphasis. Preparation and Planning is nothing without this! Practice your delivery to ensure you’re comfortable. Pay attention to your body language, tone, and eye contact to create a strong connection with your audience and remember to speak with passion and energy. (If you have seen me speak, this is my superpower). If you're in search of a dynamic, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable speaker, coach, or trainer, look no further, I'm my mother's daughter😎 I speak and train on subjects like Leadership, Human Resource, Personal Finance, Public Speaking and many more. Make that appointment now! PS: My name is Coach Adelle. I am a Certified Leadership and Personal Growth Coach, Lawyer, Data Scientist, Human Capital Specialist, Speaker, and Trainer. On today’s episode of debunking the misconceptions about public speaking, let’s dive into a misconception many, especially political communicators, fall prey to. Second Misconception: What you say doesn’t matter as long as you say it well. This is a dangerous misconception, especially in an era where polished delivery can sometimes overshadow the actual message. Delivery is important, no doubt, but without substance, it falls flat. A charismatic delivery without meaningful content leaves audiences feeling unfulfilled, as though they’ve been captivated by style but received nothing of value. A perfect example of this occurred when former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson in 2021 faced public backlash after delivering a speech to business leaders at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) conference. His speech was filled with charm and enthusiasm but lacking concrete details about important policy matters - he awkwardly referenced Peppa Pig, diverting attention from critical topics like the UK’s post-pandemic economic recovery and business innovation. His light-hearted approach at the time, while entertaining, was widely criticized for skirting around key issues, leading to a follow-up apology from his team to clarify his points. The event highlighted that while a speaker can engage an audience, the impact is diminished if the message itself lacks substance. True power in public speaking lies in striking a balance between delivery and content. People come to listen not just for entertainment, but to learn, be inspired, or take action. The most effective public speaking comes when you have something meaningful to say and present it in a way that captivates the audience. It’s not enough to sound good—you must say something worth hearing. The lesson? Don’t let style overshadow substance. Bring content that matters, and communicate it well. Only then can you truly move people. . . If this is your first time, Hello, I am Jemima Okai, the Stagecraft Queen! 🎉 We’re the Winners! 🎉 Last night’s debate was incredible! 🙌 Six Toastmasters Presidents came together to form two teams, debating the motion: 💬 "This House believes #public speaking is for everyone." The prep work for this debate was a real eye-opener! 👀 🧐 What did we discover? ➡️ According to Gallup, only 5-15% of people actually take on major leadership roles in industries. So, why should we expect everyone to master public speaking? Putting that pressure on people just doesn’t make sense. If public speaking resonates with you and you want to develop your leadership skills that way, go for it! 🎤 But here’s the thing: #Leadership can be built in so many other ways too! 🔹 Through sports 🏀 🔹 Charity work 👐 🔹 Community groups 🎭 (think choir, drama, art) #Confidence doesn’t come from just public speaking. It can grow through: ✨ Visualization ✨ Positive self-talk ✨ Journaling 💡 Fun fact: 76% of participants in a Psychology Today study said they felt more #empowered and confident after journaling regularly! 📝 My teammate shared his experience at Amazon 🏢. In his coding role, not every meeting required a big presentation—detailed memos were enough. This showed us that not every profession demands public speaking. You can find your unique style of communication and shine in your own way! 👉 So, does everyone need public speaking to feel confident? Nope. Does everyone need to communicate through public speaking? Also, nope! 🔑 Find what works for you, embrace it, and use it to elevate your confidence and authenticity. What are your thoughts on this? 💭 I’d love to hear from you!

🗣️ Many people believe you're either born a public speaker or you're not, but the truth is far more encouraging! 📈 Statistics show that public speaking is a skill that can be learned and honed with practice. According to research, the majority of successful public speakers didn't start out as naturals. They invested time and effort into developing their skills, and the results speak for themselves. In the business world, public speaking has now been rated as the most essential skill to have. Whether it's pitching to investors, leading a team, or networking at events, the ability to communicate effectively can make all the difference. As Warren Buffet famously said, "The one easy way to become worth 50 percent more than you are now—at least—is to hone your communication skills." So, if you've ever doubted your public speaking abilities, remember this: It's not about being born with it; it's about committing to learning and growing. 🌟 #PublicSpeaking #BusinessSkills #ContinuousLearning #ProfessionalDevelopment #CommunicationSkills

One way to coach presentations is through Group Video Training: Success in any pre-taped recording is based on preparation. All communicators want to be personable, conversational and involved, which means they have to be more intentional and focused on how energy feels to draw a response from the video. In our one-day workshop we focus on: · Building content for videos · Delivering content to an invisible audience We work through group exercises and applying concepts to mock recordings designed to illustrate the application of techniques and the confidence of the communicator. Let’s talk more about Group Video Training! https://lnkd.in/ggeveT4U

🌟 Presentations that Captivate 🌟 Ever find yourself struggling to hold your audience's attention during a presentation? You've meticulously crafted a captivating PowerPoint, eager to unveil it slide by slide, only to notice some heads starting to nod off? 😴 We've all been there. But what if I shared a solution that could captivate your audience and leave a lasting impression, evoking the unforgettable impact of Emmeline Pankhurst's historic speeches in 1913? Pankhurst, a prominent British suffragette leader, played a pivotal role in the women's suffrage movement. She founded the Women's Social and Political Union, a leading militant organization campaigning for women's suffrage in the UK. Pankhurst's "Freedom or Death" speech wasn't just words—it was a powerful call to action that deeply influenced the suffragette movement. With unwavering conviction and fiery determination, she declared their relentless pursuit of women's suffrage, even if it meant risking everything. Using repetition, vivid imagery, and thought-provoking questions, Pankhurst grabbed her audience's attention and never let go. Her words weren't just heard; they were felt deep within the hearts of all who listened. "We are here for something more," she declared, igniting a fire of determination in every suffragette's soul. So, let's take a page from Pankhurst's book and revolutionize our presentations. We'll begin by defining the message we want to convey, then find creative ways to engage our audience both emotionally and intellectually. And, of course, we shouldn't underestimate the power of captivating visuals to drive our points home. 🖼️ Have you ever experienced a presentation that left you truly inspired? P.S. Thanks for reading—let's make our next presentation one to remember! #LeadershipDevelopment #CommunicationSkills
