While this story pertains to a parish in Florida, I am currently working with the Dallas Diocese to help them in mitigating various physical, data and reputational risks -- hopefully 'not' like this. I'm sure this fell under the Diocese's thought process of "surely, one of our priests would never do something like _______." That's the mistake of too many in #management and #administration today, they "assume" instead of teach or train in order to "know" their people would not (fill in the blank). But also, #churches not unlike other #nonprofits face unique challenges as they obviously rely upon the public's support for their work, hence anything that potentially puts them in a bad light related to #reputationmanagement can also impact their operations and funding. #nonprofitmanagement professionals can attest to the same.
