Our 3rd tie-up with the National Library Board Singapore and this time we work with the invisible struggles of not just communicating but also sharing joys. With an inter-generational approach, we had structured questions and an art therapy styled workshop to facilitate this! The teens managed their awkwardness to find out more about their senior buddies. The room was filled with stories, colours and joys by the end of the session! The seniors were so taken by their teen buddies many requested a photo to capture that lovely afternoon! Team TTR is warmed by the excitement and that they managed to bring mental health check up and art therapy to the community! What a way to close Mental Health Awareness Month! Thank you National Library Board for hosting, and Kent Ridge Secondary School for your unwavering support! #ttrsg #ttradventures #ttrcares #teamttr #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthofseniors #nlb #intergenerational #krss

It's #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek in the #UK and we believe in the importance of supporting children's mental health and well-being, creating a safe space for children to learn and talk about their feelings. “In Roots of Empathy, children are taught self-regulation skills. They learn to recognize their feelings and to read the emotional cues of others. This child might only be eight years old, but she is able to identify and manage her own feelings and deal with stress. Roots of Empathy is a trauma-informed programme and assumes that some children in every classroom have been exposed to toxic stress. Dr. Bruce Perry and Dr. Dan Siegel, two heroes in this field, champion Roots of Empathy for its innovative way of supporting children in becoming more resilient.” - Founder/President Mary Gordon Join us in nurturing empathy and positive mental health in schools. 💔💔ዲ ቃ ላ 💔💔 🌟 The Impact of Words: Let's Change the Narrative 🌟 In many communities, including ours, the term "ዲቃላ" (unwanted child) is all too common. However, we must recognize the profound impact that such labels can have on a child's life. 💔 🍀🍀Jeremiah 1:5 , "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born I set you apart."🍀🍀 This verse emphasizes that God had a purpose for every child long before they came into existence. Labeling a child as unwanted not only damages their self-esteem but can also lead to long-lasting emotional and psychological trauma. Children internalize these messages, which can affect their sense of worth and belonging. As mental health professionals and community members, we have a responsibility to foster an environment of acceptance and love. 🤗 Instead of using harmful language, let’s focus on empowering our children with positive affirmations. Every child deserves to feel valued and cherished, regardless of their circumstances. By changing our narrative, we can help break the cycle of trauma and create a brighter future for the next generation. Let’s commit to supporting every child in our community and ensuring they know they are wanted, loved, and capable of achieving great things. 🌟💪 ብንያም ዳንኤል የስነ-ልቦና አማካሪ #ቃል Psychological Services #WeCareET #ሊስያ Online Psychotherapy

Emotional security is as important as physical security!
Insights from people with lived experience across 5 continents highlight that media, language and anti-stigma activities could help combat mental health stigma and discrimination, but only with lived experience involvement. Researchers found that insensitive language and misinformation continues to reinforce harmful stereotypes about mental health conditions around the world. Tokenistic involvement of people with lived experience resulted in weak anti-stigma campaigns with little positive impact. We know through our work that neurodivergent people are more likely to experience higher levels of mental health problems than their neurotypical peers. In this blog by the team delivering the National Autism Trainer Programme (NATP), read about some of the things we’re doing to tackle this issue, plus some helpful tips you can follow so you can be an ally to the neurodivergent community, too: https://lnkd.in/e4C4nqcb #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek #NATPMentalHealth #AnnaFreud #AutismAwareness #NeurodiversityAwareness #NeurodiversityResearch #MentalHealthCharity

The power of community lies in decreasing shame. It lies in increasing space for vulnerability. It lies in inherent validation, which opens the door for change for everyone inside. When we connect with others, we are so vulnerable to rejection. It's scary and painful to open ourselves up in that way. And the power is tremendous. There is something community can provide that no one individual, be that a parent, a friend, or even a therapist, can truly provide. Community sees you, gets it, reflects that back, and opens the door for you to move where you want to go from that understanding. Doors are now open to our community for Friends and Family of those with mental health challenges. Looking forward to welcoming you inside. How have you seen the impact community can make? Let me know in the comments! #community #acceptance #shame #validation #vulnerability #safespace #psychology #mentalhealth #psychologist #DBT #CBT

🧠 During Mental Health Awareness Month, it's crucial to shine a light on the intersectionality of mental health and neurodiversity 🌟. 𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 70% 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙩 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣? 🤔 At LL, we understand the importance of providing tailored support and resources for neurodivergent students. By recognising and addressing the unique challenges they face, we can create inclusive learning environments where every individual can thrive. We need to use this month to advocate for greater understanding, acceptance, and support for neurodiversity 💪. Together, we can build a more inclusive society where everyone's mental health needs are acknowledged and prioritised 🤝. #MentalHealthAwareness #BreakTheStigma #teenmentalhealth #mentalhealthawarenessmonth

I encourage PR professionals, especially those of color, to read the article below. You and your mental health come first. Period!
I’m proud to share that my article on mental health in communities of color has been published in the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) PRogressions series! In this article, I explored how I came to terms with my understanding of mental health. From childhood to adulthood, many experiences have impacted how I view others' mental health and more importantly, how I understand my own. I also shared the daily challenges communities of color face and the stereotypes that impact communal understanding of mental health. Throughout my time as President of the Loyola University New Orleans PRSSA chapter, I made a conscious effort to speak about the importance of mental health. I realized that PR provides a unique opportunity to create meaningful conversations that can bring about change in many ways in communities. I encourage you to read the article, share your thoughts, and join the conversation. Together we can advocate for more mental health awareness and bridge the gap that communities need to progress. Today is National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day! Mental health is key to children's ability to learn, develop and grow. Did you know 1 in 5 children has a diagnosable mental, emotional, or behavioral disorder yet many of them do not receive the help they need? Especially for children with disabilities in special education a lot of times their mental health is impacted because they are in unsupportive spaces that weren't created to help them thrive, so how can we change that? ✨ Communication - communicate with them! Problem solve, ask them what is wrong and what would support them! ✨ Routines & Structure - though children may fight against it routine, structure and predictability are what helps them thrive. ✨ Create safe spaces - create spaces where they feel safe, part of that is allowing them to be who they are and discussing supports to break down those barriers ✨ Collaborate with the school - collaborate with the school and your child's 504 or IEP team to determine how they can best be supported in their academic and educational settings to thrive How do you support your child's mental health? Comment below! #NationalChildrensMentalHealthAwareness #MentalHealth #SpecialEducation #EFMP #MilitaryChildren #MiltiaryFamilies
