Hitting a wall with advancing women in law firms? Here's a new perspective. Most advice fails because: Reason 1: It assumes training is all that is needed to eliminate leadership bias. Reason 2: It overlooks systemic barriers. Reason 3: Decision-makers don't truly understand the gender-based challenges women attorneys face. What’s missing: Solutions driven by empathy and collaboration. For example: Partnering with women to co-create equity initiatives. Proven ways forward: Way 1:Design systems and processes that account for unconscious bias Way 2: Bring the lived experiences of your firm's women closer to the people with the power to direct change. How can you start making progress? Action 1: Audit hiring and promotion processes for bias. Action 2: : Create a gender-blind process for work allocation Action 3: Pilot programs for more equitable opportunities. Vision: Retain top talent and build a stronger, inclusive firm.

I attended a wonderful lunch at the AllBright today, for the “Exploring Diversity, Equity and Inclusion talk with Hannah Awonuga . I stayed back afterwards, made new friends and had a great discussion with a few of the ladies in attendance. After the chat, I was thanked for being direct and authentic. I honestly do not know another way to be. Navigating life as a business owner is not easy but I am not only going to showcase the highlights. Though there are many, that just isn’t how business life looks or feels. Stay authentic, stay consistent and always be open to constructive criticism. As feedback is a great way to make sure your product or service is always provided at its very best. #businesssupport #businesspartner

As a senior lawyer, I was trapped by endless deadlines. But then, I realized I was too busy to be in charge of my life. What changed? I let go of wearing “busy” like a badge of honor. How did I apply this to my day-to-day approach? ↳ I reframed “busy” as a lack of clarity. ↳ I started saying no to what drained me. ↳ I got intentional about making my priorities non-negotiable. The big shift? Peace over pressure. Clarity over chaos.
