So, I’ve been working in HR for about four years now, primarily focused on employee engagement and experience. My current role as a Sr. HR Program Manager involves a lot of people interaction, especially around onboarding, but to be honest, I’m not feeling it long-term. Here’s where my dilemma comes in: I really want to transition to the Compensation/Total Rewards space. I’ve had some exposure to it while working alongside total rewards teams in my last job, and honestly, I find the structure and clarity much more appealing than the constant innovation required in employee engagement. Plus, let’s face it—job security in this area seems much better. The thought of my team getting cut constantly weighs on me, and I don’t see a bright future here. I may be good at it, but I truly dislike that focus. A few things I think about: Specialization: I want a role where my skills are in demand and appreciated. Job Security: The...
