We're excited to share the news that IHG has completed a new agreement to continue providing co-branded IHG One Rewards credit cards in the U.S. through 2036. Why is this such great news? Co-brand credit cards drive further membership and loyalty to our IHG One Rewards program, deepening guest relationships and delivering more business to our hotels. As our CEO, Elie Maalouf said, “The new agreements will create more opportunities for customers to engage with IHG and our award-winning loyalty program. We look forward to continuing a close working relationship with our partners to mutually benefit from the growth of the co-brand program in the US, and we continue to assess the potential for co-brand credit cards in other markets.”

Whenever Tony a.k.a Anthony Capuano opens his mouth, particularly at a Skift event, seen here with Sean O'Neill, it drives me NUTS because he always says something that makes me so MAD!!!I have been in this Business long enough to know when someone is talking crap & though Tony may be a Developmental 'Guru', he's never good at championing the 'CUSTOMER'!!!Tony's Disdain for Loyalty programs a.k.a Marriott Bonvoy is well documented. Back in 2021 when he was a freshly minted CEO, he sat down at that time with The Points Guy executive editor Scott Mayerowitz and literally DISMISSED the concern of those of us who loved the erstwhile Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) & admitted that while SPG was very guest friendly, Bonvoy will be OWNER FRIENDLY, I repeat, Owner friendly. This is why I hate Tony so much. Right off the bat, he was rooting for owners, not customers which he forgets is the core of Marriott International. I wonder how Marriott Hotels would operate if no guest showed up. He forgot basics of hospitality 101. I really miss the late Arne Sorenson and wish that Bill Marriott & David Marriott had chosen Stephanie Linnartz instead of Tony. ( Choices matter so much!!) Now to the event at hand, Just a couple of days ago, Tony said & I quote," As I tour around the world and talk with our teams, one of the questions I’ll often ask, if somebody comes to the desk & they’re not a Bonvoy member & you offer them the chance to enroll. Why would somebody not sign up? And often the answer you get, particularly for younger or less frequent travelers, is it’s going to take me FOREVER to earn enough points for a free stay. It’s just NOT WORTH it."!!!Yes, you acknowledged the problem Tony. That it takes forever to earn points. So what should you be doing? Increase the point per dollar ratio. Instead of devaluing points, bring back award charts like Hyatt does, run more point promotions like Hilton does. Make it WORTH IT!!! And instead what do you do? You have the audacity to say & I quote," I hope BONVOY will ultimately evolve for our members from a more transactional relationship to a more emotional relationship."!!That's code for, Let's SCREW The customers even more. Who do you think your fooling Tony? You keep making the loyalty program worthless and proudly tout the connection to Starbucks where we can earn points and redeem for coffee...I don't even drink Coffee...Heck, I want points for rooms, not beverages. You also keep harping about experiences, Like Curating the Fountain at Bellagio & promoting it as a lifetime opportunity. What you conveniently fail to point out is that the gentleman who got the chance had to shell out a mammoth 2.4 MILLION points which is RIDICULOUS!!! Do not insult our intelligence. It is very much a TRANSACTIONAL relationship, our hard earned money that we pay to stay at your hotels is NOT CHARITY!!!We need Value for our cash. Your a disgrace Tony and I HATE what you have done with our beloved loyalty program!!!DO BETTER!!!

Nominations close on Tuesday, August 27th, so if you have not started your nominations, we encourage you to do so. Now in its 27th year, the IHI Hospitality Management Awards (HMAs) continue to retain their prestige and uniqueness in that nominations are made by industry peers and IHI Members (FIHI & MIHI) and are solely in recognition of the nominee in their role. *IHI Members are eligible to nominate a maximum of two individuals. By nominating, you recognize and acknowledge the nominee's valuable individual contribution to their team, business, and the broader industry. Across 14 Award categories, 42 Judges will independently pre-screen nominations and score within their allocated category. Three to five top-scoring nominees within a category will then go forward to a comprehensive interview conducted in person by a panel of three Judges. *Please note that this year's categories have changed. The new category, Inspiring Manager of the Year, has replaced the previous category of Employee of the Year (please see the attached guide for criteria).
