When Candidates Suddenly Shift to Wanting Remote Work Here's a familiar situation that many HR professionals deal with: After navigating through all the interviews, discussing job specifics, the location, and office hours, a candidate finally lands a position that’s meant to be on-site. Everything’s in order, and then... just days before their start date, they throw out the question, "Is it possible to work remotely?" 🤔 What happened here? Did a work-from-office job magically turn into a remote one overnight? Picture this: you’ve even arranged for a month's accommodation to help candidates get settled and find their footing, plus provided relocation support to ease their move. Yet, somehow, some candidates still seem confused. What more can HR do? Candidates, we value your willingness to adapt, but let’s be straightforward from the beginning. Being clear helps everyone stay aligned. Remember, clarity is crucial—especially when it comes to your work location! #HRLife #RecruitmentStories #WorkFromOffice #ClearCommunication #RelocationAssistance

🤔 Remote vs. Hybrid: Why the Confusion? 🤔 Am I the only one frustrated by job postings labeled "remote" that end up being "hybrid" once you’re in the interview? As an HR professional, I understand the need to attract a large pool of candidates, but confusing candidates with misleading terms is counterproductive for everyone involved. 🔹 Remote should mean 100% from home, while Hybrid implies a mix of office and home. They’re not the same thing! Candidates rely on clear information to make informed career decisions. Misleading terms not only waste candidates’ time but also create frustration and erode trust in the hiring process. To recruiters and hiring managers: Please be clear and intentional with these labels! If the role requires time in the office, label it as hybrid from the start. We all benefit when candidates understand the role requirements upfront. Let’s make the hiring process more transparent, respect candidates' time, and ensure "remote" truly means remote. #Hiring #RemoteWork #HybridWork #HR #Transparency #Recruitment #JobSearch

Looking to switch from an in-person job to a remote or hybrid position? Here are a few considerations before you make the change. Understanding Remote vs. Hybrid vs. In-Person: Assess your lifestyle and preferences. Are you more productive in a traditional office environment, or do you thrive working from home? Without a clear separation between work and home spaces, you'll need to establish a strong work/life balance. Expectations and Boundaries: Securing a remote or hybrid role is just the beginning. Clarify expectations and boundaries with employers early in the hiring process. During interviews, discuss how and when you can be contacted to ensure alignment with potential employers. Interview Insights: If a job states it is hybrid, get an understanding of what the in person/remote breakdown is. Does this job have the possibility to transition to an entirely remote or in-person role in the future? Sealing the Deal: Get your agreement in writing. Request any agreed-upon arrangements be included in your offer letter or contract to avoid misunderstandings in the future.
