In today's changing world, understanding our communities is crucial. Community research helps us listen and learn from the people we serve, guiding us to make better decisions. Here's why it's so important right now: 1️⃣Inclusive Decision-Making: By involving everyone, we make decisions that work for everyone. 2️⃣Addressing Inequities: We can find and fix unfairness by listening to those who are often left out. 3️⃣Building Resilience: Understanding our community's strengths helps us face challenges together. We are always working to ensure that the knowledge and experiences of the community are heard and understood, and that they have the power and agency to shape what happens in their lives and neighbourhoods. As well as supporting, commissioning and carrying out our own community research we have been working to create a ‘Community Research Network’ in Norfolk. Katy Rutherford has been hosting a series of learning workshops to further support the local charitable and not-for-profit sector in generating their own community research. SATURDAY MORNING (NOVEMBER 2ND) at 8:30 AM our amazing Who I Am Foundation volunteers in #Phoenix will be cleaning up the community once again! In honor of Kenny "Fanatic" Hogan, for this Community Clean-Up (PHX) our volunteers will be meeting up in the parking lot of Rodriguez Boxing Club, located at 1350 W Roosevelt St Phoenix, AZ 85007 to clean up Roosevelt St. from 7th Ave to 19th Ave. NO OPEN-TOED SHOES Cleaning up loose trash is one of the best ways to pitch in for your community and the environment. Volunteering as a means to help conserve and protect the environment has a lot of upsides. Of course, the first is that you’ll be taking care of our planet, and it badly needs a little love given the myriad ways in which we’ve become adept at destroying it. But beyond that, volunteering for a cause you care about is a great way to meet like-minded people, make friends, and pull yourself out of the blues that sometimes accompany caring a lot about something important – especially if you feel alone in your endeavors. None of us like the sight of litter. Litter spoils the look of where we live but that’s not the only reason for picking up litter. There are a number of benefits from picking up litter that you may not have considered before. Volunteer-led projects such as these are one of the quickest, simplest, and least expensive ways to inspire more community spirit and civic action. A visually appealing community increases property values, attracts businesses, and improves the neighborhood's image. Beauty is one of the three most influential factors in community attachment, which means loyalty, to your particular town or city. With over 600 funds and $451 million in total assets, the Community Foundation of Elkhart County received $39 million in gifts and granted $31 million to the community in the 2023-24 fiscal year. Early childhood, career development, entrepreneurship, and placemaking efforts were some of the causes the organization focused on this year. The nonprofit also made several key hires and promotions as some of its leaders prepare for retirement.
