26.2 is 26.2. I hate to be a cynic, but I've never understood the appeal of these marathons. If you told me you ran 7 marathons, and someone else told me they ran 7 Majors, all I would hear is that you both did 7 marathons. But that just might be because of my interest in chasing down races with the most beautiful views and bucket list experiences, not the biggest names. Some of my ideal marathons include the Victoria Falls Marathon through Zimbabwe and Zambia, the Midnight Sun Marathon above the Arctic Circle in Norway, the Paris Marathon passing every famous landmark, or Marathon du Medoc with its 22 wine tastings. This isn't to say that the Majors aren't good races, they are. But that doesn't mean they're for everyone. Choosing to run a marathon is a massive decision and commitment. You want a race that reflects back on your goals and interests. Not everyone else's goals and interests. ---------------------------- 👋 I'm Sadie and I help runners traveling to Europe create amazing vacations around half and full marathons. I’ve been featured in Runner's World talking about traveling to run in Europe and I hold the number one spot on Google for European Wine Marathons. I wish I got to race more often than I do, Sadie Lowell. I generally run about 1 event every 2 years, mostly because we don't have that many great races in our area. And because it's necessary for me to travel to get to events (and generally expensive traveling from Tanzania), travel and finances have a lot to do with my selection. Some things I consider: 1// My running goals at the time, if I have any. (This can be distance alone or distance and time, depending.) 2// Do I already plan to travel somewhere that has options for racing? (I'll almost definitely just choose a race there if I can find one I like, to save money.) 3// Is my family likely to go with me? (If so I'll choose somewhere more family vacation friendly.) 4// All else equal I'll take trail runs over tarmac. 5// And if all is still equal I'll take a course better suited to my running style. 👉 My next race is likely going to be the Vermont 100 Endurance Race. And here were the answers to those questions: 1// I want to run a sub 24-hour 100-miler (I've run one but over 27 hours). 2 & 3// Our family will be in the US next summer, and will likely go with me anywhere I choose to run if it's convenient time wise and we can afford it. > So I googled summer 100-milers in the US. 3// I found Vermont 100, and my family's never been to the northeast. 4// Vermont is not tarmac, and also not technical. 5// The race is hilly but with no really big climbs, and everyone says it's too hot (I'm fast on downhills, not especially slow on ups, and do well in heat.) By the way Vermont 100 beat my second choice out (Leadville), because... a) I've been to Leadville before, b) I'm not as likely to go under 24-hours there, and c) Vermont would be at the beginning of our time in the US, allowing me to relax, rather than train, for more of my time in the US. What's your next race? 👟

I caught the end of Tour de France stage. Tadej Pogacar won his 5th stage. He ended up in a group of three at the finish line, then it became a group of two. He attacked and distanced his competitors to win another stage. This reminded me of a quote by Ed Milet: "Winning is more fun than fun is fun." We often focus on trying to have fun and be happy. But real fun and enjoyment come from fulfillment, accomplishment, and inspired action. Watching Pogacar, he was just having fun, winning is fun for him. He’s the best bike rider in the world right now, one of the greatest of our times. if you watch how he celebrates his interviews afterward, or before the race, it's just him fully aligned, authentic, present, and loving winning life. So, the question for you today is: Are you winning? If you're not feeling happy, or if things are hard, stressful, or stagnant, ask yourself this. Are you winning in life? Are you winning at work? Are you winning in your relationships, with your family, or as a parent? One philosophy that stuck with me from Graham Weston at Rackspace is: "Everyone wants to be a valued member of a winning team on an inspiring mission." I'll dig into the other aspects of this philosophy in another video, but winning is crucial. If your team’s not winning, even if you're inspired and have values, something's missing. Ask yourself, am I winning? It's a useful lens to examine your life, relationships, work, or business. If the answer’s no, what can you do about it? How can you get back to winning?

One reading through the lines would say ‘techne meets metis’. Indeed it was nostslgic. A profond moment to reflect on the de-risking agenda and creating a strong knowledge fabric weaved over decades of experiences. The vision to create and retain capital catalysed through robust insurance markets in Africa is nolonger a dream. Agency for Inclusive Innovations & Development (AIID) is pulling an inclusive ‘metis and techne’ to create input neccesary to advance the realisation of an effective and vibrant agricultural Insurance market in Africa. Aggregration or say collective action fundamemtally reduces transaction costs. African markets are fragmented hence inneficient. Aggregated Insurance markets has the power to crowd-in investments and unlock the potential of African markets. Anchoring our thoughts on this assertion, we are keen to re-orient the role and contribution of insurance in catalysing the development of sustainable #foodsystems in this great continent. Lets connect and create value towards this vision. Aggregating people too, has the same catalytic DNA.

This is why you need an Ontology. Data alone is not where the value lies - the value lies in the decisions - how the business logic, applied to said data, results in a meaningful action to drive the enterprise forward.
