Joining the MPI Belgium - Luxembourg Chapter association was one of the best decisions in my life and career 🤩 Whether you're a young person entering the workplace, an experienced professional or a business owner, associations play a crucial role in helping you grow both personally and professionally. Here's my story... I joined MPI Belgium in 2012. In just six years, I progressed from being a member to Executive Director and eventually, President of MPI Belgium. Although I stepped down from the role in 2019, my journey with MPI didn't end there. The clients, colleagues, industry professionals and countless people I connected with through MPI all over the globe, are still a vital part of my network and my journey. Fast forward to today, as the Manager of Westerlicht, centra voor leven met en na kanker a center for people living with and after cancer, the experience I had as an volunteer within MPI was crucial to get on board. I find that my involvement in associations continues to be instrumental. It helps me to cope with the grief of losing four loved ones, including my husband, and supports others facing similar battles 💖 So, my advice to you is: 🔍Discover what you are passionate about. 🔗Search for and find associations that align with your passion. ✨Join them and watch the magic happen. *VOTE for # 9 (Spinal IPU)* https://lnkd.in/dt4mHTgr The Spinal-IPU initiative at SGH - Riyadh represents a shift in the way spinal-related conditions are approached. Unlike traditional models of care, which often operate in silos and focus solely on clinical outcomes, our initiative incorporates a comprehensive pathway using a value care delivery chain (VCDC), interdisciplinary collaboration, standardized clinical practice guidelines (CPG), and patient-centered care. Patient value was measured using clinician-reported outcome measures (CROMs), disease-specific patient-reported outcomes (PROMs), and patient-reported experience measures (PREMs). The main aim of the initiative was to redesign the care delivery model for spinal-related conditions through an integrated approach that focuses on commitment, collaboration, and outcome measures.In SGH, we leverage technological solutions to enhance patient care and outcomes. For instance, mHealth was used to provide patients with convenient access to their health information, electronic health record was used to assist the medical team in documenting treatment plans consistently, and e-PROM assisted our patients in assessing outcomes electronically. The preliminary results from our initiative are promising. Clinical outcomes, as measured by CROMs, showed a significant reduction in the rate of surgical site infection (SSI) and an improvement in medical record documentation. Furthermore, PROMs indicated that patients are experiencing improved quality of life, better functional status, and less pain. Our initiative represents a transformative approach to spinal care delivery. The interdisciplinary collaboration, standardized protocols, patient-centered care, and measuring outcomes were driving factors that enabled us to redefine the standard of excellence in spinal care.

This past Wednesday, our President and Chief Executive Officer took the stage at HLTH USA to open the #GLP1 Summit and provide his perspective on the landscape of #cardiometabolic disease management. Key takeaways: 1️⃣ Despite spending nearly 2X more on healthcare than peer countries, the health status of Americans is deteriorating. From 2020 to 2050, the percentage of U.S. adults with chronic conditions is projected to increase by 12.4 percentage points.  2️⃣ Between 2020 and 2022, prescription volumes for GLP-1 medications increased 300%, and in 2021, national spending on #semaglutide (the peptide name for drugs like #Ozempic and #Wegovy) totaled $10.7B. 3️⃣ The increase in GLP-1 use does not correlate with clinical indication. Just over half of patients taking GLP-1s have a history of type 2 diabetes or have an associated medical visit with their prescription.
