It's often the case with events that there aren't sufficient different spaces within a venue, or indeed your budget doesn't stretch to hiring yet another room, to move each stage of the event to another area. However, a lot can be done by washing a space with a different colour. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝘿𝙧𝙞𝙥 𝘽𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙨? How often do you stay in a hotel and use the TCMF for your morning tea/coffee?? I do it all the time. In tbe good ol’ days the facility used to have something called a drip bowl for you to place your used tea bag or spoons so that they don’t mess up the counter. Like the dodos in Mauritius, these seem to have become extinct!!!! Imagine you go to make a second cup and have to do it in this mess of a drippy teabag, a sticky spoon and assorted used sugar and milk satchets!!!! And to add to it the HK teams end up having a nightmare to clean up after the guest. Ever wonder why these aren’t there anymore? 🤔 It’s probably not the cost or availability. In my view it’s because of a 𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙡 𝙩𝙤𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚. So folks whenever you “spec” a service, please review the entire guest experience”journey” through it. Every step of the way in great detail. 🤔 What makes a great hotel room? Well, finding a mini box of Milk Tray in my room when I checked in yesterday tipped the balance for me… I stay in a lot of hotels. I may have a preference for a particular chain. That may have changed last night. Is that fickle? There is actually a lot more to it than just chocolate though. Nicely proportioned rooms make a difference - and I say that as someone who often deliberately stays in the new compact hotels where rooms are very small. I find them cosy (though ironing a very long cocktail dress recently in a room that’s not big enough to safely include a kettle was a challenge 😂) and you soon get used to the ‘will I have a window’ roulette. Equally though you can sometimes find yourself in rooms that are just a bit too big, as again I did recently. All I could think about was how two compact rooms would fit in there, and feel more homely. The teeny tiny tv on the wall didn’t help it feel bigger either! But my final deciding factor is where you put your clothes. I like to hang my ‘work clothes’ up, particularly if I’ve got a dinner or event to attend. Coathangers are required. Do you get them, are there enough? I also want to have my case handy to pack as I go during the week, as opposed to a mad packing spree on the last morning. I think I spend too much time in hotels if these are the things that bother me 🫣 #businesstraveller #hotels
