🌻 Imagine being forced to choose between your next meal and a roof over your head. For vulnerable people like Tania* and her children, this is the harsh reality of the unrelenting cost-of-living crisis. Rental costs are soaring. Groceries have never been so expensive. And as a result, struggling families like Tania’s are facing impossible choices. 🌿 At Christmas, these choices are even starker. For many, there’ll be no special meals because there’s rarely enough on the table. And no presents because the rent is overdue. Tania and her three children were at risk of homelessness after escaping an abusive relationship. 🌿 All she wanted was the best life possible for her kids. But it felt so far out of reach. Driven by the deep love she holds for her children, Tania found the courage to seek help from Vinnies. While awareness of baby banks remains relatively low (way behind food banks), raising their profile is urgent. That’s why coverage such as this ITV piece, about our Great Big Baby Shower, is so powerful. We see time and time again that as soon as people know and understand Little Village’s network of baby banks, the concept of passing on pre-loved children’s things to a family who needs them feels simple, yet genius. The families referred to us get the things they need for their babies and young children, while building new connections. The families who support us get to feel good that instead of landfill, their (often precious) items are going to be re-loved in a new home. So, back to the urgent bit. The need for our help has never been bigger. When our form is open, we receive an ask for help approximately every 45 seconds. And we simply can’t keep up with demand. Top 10 Reasons to Volunteer at Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services in September 1. Did you know they are moving into a new building? They are! And they need community help to make that happen. 2. Fun fact - the new building is right next door to the old building! 3. This means no moving truck! You can walk the stuff right over. 4. Are you tall? You can enjoy almost hitting your head many times in the attic! 5. You get to meet cool people like my new friend Beth who manages the facilities there. 6. Helping people is awesome. This should probably be reason #1. 7. You can get about 5000 steps in a morning of volunteering there. Exercise is good for you! 8. Build muscle carrying awkward heavy things down narrow flights of stairs. 9. You get to help your new friend Beth climb out of the dumpster (long story). 10. And finally, this is a noble cause and they need help. It feels good to help people. So give it a go!

I have to tell you the story of how I came to know Goddess Matula through my writing friend Genius Turner As a writer on Medium - one of my greatest pleasures is connecting with unique folks who have a hot take fueled by kindness and the #PartnershipParadigm. That’s how I came to connect with Genius. He’s a talented writer and intuitive manifester - making the most of a challenging origin to rise up and spread the parsed out truth of The Genius Mindset: His specialty? Cutting through the BS of the modern world with an intersectional scalpel, and a style all his own. He’s also a popular writer on Quora and a psycho-spiritual weaver who doesn’t pull any punches. He’s also very real. Goddess Matula is his talent manager. And lest you be distracted by her physical beauty and his too-good-to-be-true name, let me tell you. These folks are as magical as they appear on first glimpse. Who am I? A hippie earthy 48 year old intellectual with poetic tendencies. And yet, the energetic support I get from these folks is 100% real. So when Goddess talks, I listen. I guarantee she’s more than a pretty face. When Genius writes, I read it. The truth he spits goes deep into the real. And that’s where we meet. In the real. After all the BS of the world today, is that not what you’re craving? I sure am. So take note when Goddess speaks.
