Looking back on the last four years, we couldn’t have predicted how the pandemic changed all of our lives. It affected our economy in so many ways, especially the nonprofit sector. These critical organizations worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic while watching for profit businesses get support while nonprofits were rarely eligible for the funding. This is where the Michigan Nonprofit Relief Fund was brought to life. We sat down with Joan Gustafson, MNA’s External Affairs Officer, about how the program was built with the State of Michigan to be administered for nonprofits by nonprofits and how small nonprofits depend on contributions that were just not available during the pandemic.
