⚠️WEEK 45-47, 2024: [1642 jobs] DATA JOB OPENINGS IN AUSTRALIA⚠️ Hi all, We couldn’t update the spreadsheet for the past two weeks because of some tech issues. Thanks so much for being patient! The good news? It’s all updated now! We’ve added everything from the last two and a half weeks, so we’re all caught up. 🎉 It’s looking good again. RECAP: List of updates to the spreadsheet: - The biggest update is that going forward, we will source jobs from LinkedIn as well (earlier the database only included Seek). This will ensure completeness and cover almost all the #data jobs under the Australian skies. - We have now included Data Engineering and associated roles too (earlier the spreadsheet included only "Data Analyst" roles) - We have added some AI-powered fields (beware of some hallucinations and factual mistakes). Also, we have added some new fields. The new fields added are as follows: 1) CITY and STATE - Separate columns for city and state for easier filtering 2) TOP TECH SKILLS - top tech skills or tools mentioned in the job description. Multiple tools are comma-separated 3) FUNCTION - function the role or team is related to (e.g. finance, marketing, human resources) 4) INDUSTRY - The industry or domain the company is related to (banking, construction, education, healthcare etc.) 5) PR/ CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENT - Flagged if this information is explicitly mentioned in the job description 6) SECURITY CLEARANCE - Flagged if this information is explicitly mentioned in the job description 7) LOCATION TYPE - Whether the location is remote/regional or in a major city

💡 Tip of the day for Data professionals looking to land a new role 💡 If you want to stand out to recruiters and have worked in a consultancy role as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst etc.. Update the role title to include the role, e.g. "Data Engineer Consultant" When recruiters search for candidates, often we have "years of experience" requirements from our clients. If you worked at a consultancy as a Data professional for X amount of years, but your title for that role is "Consultant at X company", LinkedIn will not include that time as experience in the role, making it harder for recruiters to find you. I have seen a lot of candidates whose experience reflects as much less than it is in reality due to simply not specifying their role at a consultancy in their job title. On a side note, if you are looking for B2B work as a Data Engineer to work fully remotely within the EU, DM me, lots of roles available!

Who makes more, hard core data scientists or switch-hitting business analysts? I am not surprised to see #businessanalytics #salaries top #datascience based on what I have heard from senior executives. The first thing they usually tell me is that "I love my data scientists!" The second is usually "...but...they spend so much time building the coolest stuff I could never use". A team with a mix of business analysts that understand both data and business and data scientists focusing on tech should always outperform a team with only data scientists. Some folks will argue that the best data scientists will understand the business context. And this is true! These folks move up the ladder so quickly that they don't stay data scientists very long. So, most practicing data scientists tend to be tech-focused. This creates a need for trained business analysts.

This project is entirely based on the free course offered by one of my favorite YouTubers in the Data Analyst world , " Luke Barousse" work on datanerd.tech and the collaborative course by Luke and Kelly Adams, I've conducted an in-depth analysis of Data Analyst jobs using SQL. In it, he created a course with different levels aimed at educating. I used this as a practical and real way to solve the daily question I face when showing up for work or when answering recruiters' inquiries about my salary expectations. This is based on the countries of my interest (Calgary, AB, Canada, Santiago, Chile, and Australia). The above focused on the question of whether it had been a good idea to move to Calgary and the results only supported what I already thought. In Canada there is more demand for Data Analyst professionals compared to the other two countries where I have worked. Just to make it easier to visualize and understand and make it useful for me, and anyone who wanted to use it, I decided with the databases generated to make an interactive dashboard in Tableau to share it with whoever wanted. Something simple and practical to review: https://lnkd.in/g6DPzAP6 4️⃣ What are the top skills that are associated with higher salaries? 5️⃣ What are the most optimal skills to learn?
