The United States Air Force is issuing a call to industry in its hunt for new tools to improve its sensor architectures and degrade adversaries’ ability to target U.S. military forces. The outreach came in an update to a broad agency announcement for #technologies to support an operationally focused Advanced Battle Management System (#ABMS), which is the Department of the #Air_Force’s contribution to the Pentagon’s warfighting construct known as Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control. The effort aims to better connect the sensors, data streams and weapon systems of the U.S. #military and key allies under a more unified network. Such #weapons include not just traditional munitions such as missiles, but also digital warfare tools that are sometimes referred to as “non-kinetic” capabilities. https://lnkd.in/gGkMBUMB Air Force Agency for Modeling & Simulation (AFAMS) Team Orlando

Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to knowledge about what your potential adversaries might be doing in the spectrum. It was announced recently that as part of the AUKUS Advanced Capability Development effort (Pillar II, for those keeping score) that Australia, the UK, and the US would more freely exchange electronic warfare intelligence. This will both give the partnership access to distributed intelligence gathering capabilities and enable defense establishments and industry across the partnership to develop technology to counter the latest adversary capabilities. #ew #electronicwarfare #intelligence #sigint #aukus https://lnkd.in/drwrkrQC

In recent developments, the Russian military has significantly increased its supply of various military gear to its soldiers. This initiative is indicative of the evolving nature of modern warfare, where the quality and type of equipment can drastically influence the effectiveness of troops on the battlefield. The gear provided ranges from advanced weaponry to state-of-the-art personal protective equipment. This bolstering of resources reflects a strategic approach to enhance operational capabilities. Soldiers are now equipped with technology that not only improves combat readiness but also ensures their safety in increasingly hostile environments. This supply chain extends beyond basic weaponry. The inclusion of tactical vests, communication systems, and digital tools for real-time intelligence may change how ground troops engage in combat. The integration of such technology allows for better coordination among units, improves situational awareness, and ultimately can lead to more successful missions. Moreover, this focus on equipping soldiers comes at a time when modernization is crucial. Other nations are also investing in similar advancements, leading to an arms race of sorts in military capabilities. The narrative surrounding modern warfare increasingly emphasizes the importance of not just human resources but the tools soldiers carry into battle. As we observe these developments, it's essential to analyze their implications. Enhanced military gear can lead to shifts in tactics and strategies, potentially altering dynamics in conflict zones. Additionally, the logistical components behind such supply efforts highlight the complexity involved in sustaining military operations. For defense analysts and policymakers, understanding the nuances of these advancements is vital. As military technologies continue to evolve, the focus will likely shift towards ensuring that personnel are not only trained to wield new equipment but are also supported by robust supply chains that can respond to dynamic battlefield requirements. In conclusion, the move to supply soldiers with advanced military gear not only underscores Russia's commitment to strengthening its military capabilities but also serves as a reminder of the ongoing evolution in global military strategies. Keeping an eye on these changes can provide critical insights into the future of warfare and international security dynamics. World

“China has established a new information warfare department under the direct command of its top military body as it begins its largest restructuring of the armed forces in more than eight years. The shift of information warfare to the direct command of the Central Military Commission would hand Chinese leader Xi Jinping even more direct control over the military, analysts said. The Information Support Force will aim to ‘speed up military modernisation and effectively implement the mission of the people’s armed forces in the new era’, Xi said at a ceremony in Beijing on Friday. It will be removed from the Strategic Support Force, which was set up eight years ago as a new PLA branch combining information, cyber and space warfare departments under Xi’s previous military restructuring, according to a statement from the PLA Daily military news service. The space and cyber forces would also be brought under a new command structure, it said, de facto abolishing the Strategic Support Force.” “Under the SSF, the information forces had been in charge of collecting technical intelligence and providing intelligence support to regional military chiefs. ‘When the SSF was created, they rearranged existing capabilities under a new command structure. We guessed at the time that might be transitional, and that has now come to pass,’ said Joe McReynolds, China security fellow at the Jamestown Foundation. Beijing’s efforts to further strengthen the PLA are closely watched as China challenges US dominance in the Indo-Pacific region and wields its growing military power to intimidate various neighbours in territorial disputes. Xi’s last major PLA restructuring in 2015 moved key functions such as logistics, training and mobilisation directly under the command of the CMC, which he chairs. Combining cyber, information and space forces under the SSF was viewed as an attempt to create similar direct control.” “But experts on the Chinese military said that leaders had unwound that structure as a result of an incident last year in which a Chinese surveillance balloon was shot down by the US, as well as corruption investigations into generals and a failure to achieve synergies across the different divisions within the SSF. The military leadership has been experimenting with smaller reorganisations in recent years. ‘The relative success of the functions they moved under the CMC has convinced them that they will have the control they want,’ McReynolds said. He added that Beijing was focused on cutting out layers of command. Bi Yi, a veteran army general, was appointed commander of the new Information Support Force, and Li Wei named as its political commissar. The latter position wields power equal with the commander as the Communist party seeks to enforce absolute loyalty and ideological correctness in the force, which belongs to the party rather than the state.”

Sigma Defense announced the acquisition of EWA Inc., a prominent player in the field of Electronic Warfare (EW) headquartered in Herndon, Virginia. With over 47 years of experience in developing and delivering EW capabilities, EWA provides a comprehensive understanding of evolving threats across the electromagnetic spectrum. The acquisition of EWA will enhance Sigma Defense’s ability to deliver on the CJADC2 vision of “sense, make sense and act” delivering new capabilities to joint and coalition forces. JADC2 is a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) acronym which stands for Joint All Domain Command and Control, a strategic warfighting concept that connects the data sensors, shooters, and related communications devices of all U.S. military services and eventually allied partners into one integrated “network-of-networks.” EWA’s long history of delivering EW technologies to the DoD and National Security stakeholders aligns with Sigma Defense’s software led approach, augmenting its CJADC2 ecosystem for collecting, analyzing, and distributing data for near real-time intelligence. This strategic move further advances Sigma Defense’s vision enabling the company to provide a comprehensive understanding of evolving threats across the electromagnetic spectrum. #military #defense #defence #militaryleak #sigma https://lnkd.in/gwzXUSCT

The U.S. Army continues its charge to implement modern electronic warfare capabilities. A provision in the House National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the bill which funds the US Department of Defense and has a hand in setting its priorities, would have the Army set up an Electronic Warfare Center of Excellence. This CoE would be responsible for training and doctrine development for electronic warfare going forward. This establishment would remove those responsibilities from the Cyber Center of Excellence where they currently reside. There's still a long way to go with the current NDAA, but giving electronic warfare co-equal visibility and priority with cyber warfare is recognition by the Army of the importance of EW in future conflicts. That being said, I was once given a good warning about Centers of Excellence...building a Center is easy; making it Excellent is very hard. #electronicwarfare #ew #army #cyber #ndaa #dod https://lnkd.in/euatJgrQ
