Last week, I spent a couple of days at Australian Healthcare Week. There were many lessons/insights from the sessions – existing and new. Here are mine: 🔴 Technology being the enabler, not the solution. 🔴 The workforce of the future is not only about the future workforce, but supporting those currently in it – with career pathways, flexibility, culture, and reasons to be retained. 🔴 Health care is lagging behind other industries when it comes to embracing technology. 🔴 We can learn from other industries. At the end of the day, we’re not that different. 🔴 The importance of leading with humility. 🔴 Being patient-led is more than just saying you’re patient-led. 🔴 Town Halls are for everyone. Share the stage and don’t make it top-heavy. 🔴 Technology without good leadership is worthless. 🔴 You can have a good experience at a bad hospital, and you can have a bad experience at a good one. 🔴 Personalisation is the key to a good experience. 🔴 It’s not a resistance to technology, it’s a resistance to change. There’s a difference. Did you attend? What were your takeaways? A shout out to: 👉 The Australian Healthcare Week team for a well organised event. 👉 The hundreds of organisations who exhibited. After all, it’s their $$$ that make complimentary tickets possible. Highlight of the conference: Running into Declan Briscoe and chatting all things Liverpool. YNWA. ⚽

Another Swaay.Health Marketing Community conference is in the books! One of my favorites; I always leave smarter and savvier than when I arrived. How many conferences have media training sessions? I'm also grateful to have taken the stage to debate the value of conferences with Amanda Lomas, Lorraine McMeekin, our make-believe CFO antagonist Cynthia Church, with Colin Hung as the moderator. It was a delight to share the stage with such knowledgeable and passionate individuals, each bringing receipts to back up their points. As we discussed, it's not always about ROI, but rather ROO—return on objective—and conferences offer a myriad of opportunities to pursue multiple objectives in one place. Conferences play a vital role in connecting healthcare professionals, fostering collaboration, and driving innovation. It is through events like these that we can collectively shape the future of our industry—for healthcare, technology, and the marketing of healthcare technology! Many thanks to Robin Moritz of InterSystems, Jaime Lira for capturing us on stage, and Emily Mata for the great picture of Colin and me. #Gratitude #PanelDebate #HealthcareConferences #FutureOfHealthcare

Nashville Session 2024 was another great event in Nashville. Hosted by the Nashville Health Care Council and the healthcare community of Nashville, this event is turning into the seminal eclectic event for the healthcare leaderships teams from around America. This is not a giant event like HIMSS or even VIVE but more subdued event with no vendors booths. Its turns out, this made all the difference in the world. The main stage at the Country Music Hall of Fame proved that a fireside chat is exactly that. A warm inviting space to hear stories, ideas and insights from the top hospital systems in the world. The picture below is perfect example. Making new friends is what makes a great conference complete. Here’s a short shoutout to all the new friends made at this event. Sharing ideas of a better healthcare future with leadership from the cornerstone companies of America is truly inspiring and motivating. 🌟 Reflecting on HFMA Region 8 Chapter Events 🌟 As 2024 comes to a close, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible experiences and insights gained from recent HFMA Region 8 chapter events. From Minnesota to Missouri, Kansas to the Dakotas, these gatherings have been a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of the healthcare finance community. What stood out most? The passion for collaboration and innovation that fuels our shared mission to support hospitals and health systems, particularly in rural areas. Engaging with so many dedicated professionals has been both inspiring and humbling. Each conversation highlighted the unique challenges we face—and the creative solutions we’re building together. At Ni2 Health, we’re proud to stand alongside this community, offering innovative, non-intrusive solutions that drive meaningful financial improvements for hospitals. This year, we’ve seen firsthand how partnerships forged at HFMA events lead to real, measurable impacts on healthcare organizations and their patients. To everyone I’ve had the chance to connect with: thank you for your insights, your ideas, and your commitment to excellence in healthcare finance. It’s an honor to learn from and collaborate with you. Here’s to continuing this momentum into 2025—strengthening networks, sharing knowledge, and driving innovation in healthcare finance. 💼💡 If you’re part of HFMA Region 8 and haven’t yet joined these incredible events, I encourage you to get involved. Let’s keep building a future where our combined efforts truly make a difference. #HFMA #HealthcareFinance #Networking #Innovation #RuralHealthcare #Region8
