As we are seeing plans and designs from all over the country, I talked with a couple other model builders across the industry and it's a very common theme that the designs and the documents that are getting released for construction. Are subpar at best for the majority. There's so many design issues that. Come out of the drawings that don't get found until they're getting ready to pour that sidewalk or that path the next day. So it's sort of a little fun to find all those things because it's kind of like a scavenger hunt. You're like, what am I going to find next? And you know, sometimes you find something that is a really big impact to the project. We're really good at digging or finding those things and digging for the information and making sure that we're not just building it wrong because it says it on the plan. We're going to fix it. And a lot of times we fix it and it's not really a question. It's just a note that says, hey, here's what we did here because we can find that. Where we see that this is clearly the issue and 95% of the time we get a response back from the engineer, it says, Yep, that's that's good, go with that.

Indeed, mass timber is more than a relatively new building material, using it efficiently and successfully requires industrialized construction processes (cnc machines, computer aided manufacturing, designing for manufacturingvand assembly - and a lot of learning by architects, structural engineers, builders, developers and investors). But it is happening and #Oregon is leading the nation in multiple ways and growth is accelerating to meet demand. The CutMyTimber team has worked on mass timber projects for over 30 years and we are building a new factory, buying more cnc machines and creating more jobs. We never said it was easy or not complicated - but we do believe #masstimber is a very big opportunity for Oregon and the housing industry.
