Do you have 4 minutes? This substack article by Adam Grant will shift your thinking, on competition, on teamwork and on solidarity. Surely, you have 4 minutes for that! "The ethos of friendly competition at the Olympics goes further: you root for your team without rooting against your opponents. If it can happen in the zero-sum world of sports—where winning requires someone else to lose—it can happen anywhere." #AdamGrant #CompetitionMindset #TeamworkMatters #SolidarityInAction #PositiveCompetition https://ow.ly/U5we50T3z6l

🏅 The Olympics: A Disappointing Reality Check As a child, I used to eagerly look forward to the Olympics—a global celebration of unity, sportsmanship, and the incredible feats of athletes from all corners of the world. But as I’ve grown older, my excitement has been overshadowed by disappointment. The recent decisions and actions surrounding the Olympics have been deeply troubling. Banning Russian and Belorussian athletes, while turning a blind eye to others from countries with equally concerning issues, raises questions about consistency and fairness. Allowing a man from the Netherlands who has been convicted for🍇 to compete is completely disrespectful for survivors everywhere around the world. And then there’s talk of upholding women’s rights, but it's all hypocritical. The decision to bar hijabi 🧕 athletes from competing feels like a step backward, not forward. Women should be free to wear whatever they want, period. The Olympics were meant to be a symbol of global unity, showcasing talented individuals and allowing us to become ONE, even if only for a few weeks, the way sports do. But now, they seem more politically fueled than ever. The only bright spot for me is seeing athletes from countries we rarely hear about take the stage, reminding us of the true spirit of the games. What do you think? Was I just naive? It’s time to rethink what the Olympics should stand for and how we can bring back the values that made them special in the first place. 🌍🏅 #Olympics #InclusionInSports #SportsForAll

An extravaganza of sports is on!! From the highs of T20 we roll into the Euro 2024 Football Quaterfinals and F1. While Wimbledon waits patiently for its turn Sports captivates many of us - Few also play it. However, subconsciously it teaches us a lot while at the same time entertaining us. In sports the individual and the team have to run the cycle of “Ponder-Pick-Prepare-Prespire-Perform” in real time and quick time to Prevail. It is this facet which subconsciously all of us relate to and get entertained by. It also gives us all so much to “discuss-deliberate-describe-distort-decimate” to our great delight. The common fact is that all these words are - Verbs. And that is the real essence of what we can gain from sport. It’s not the nouns or adjectives that enlighten-entertain-enrich us - it’s the verbs. That is - to be and to do!!

“It's not ballet. We sometimes speak about football as a very marginal sport for women, but it's the biggest sport in Europe, biggest sport in the world for women🌎… and for that sport, we have one woman in the UEFA EXCO – the board, the people that decide – and that's a quotaed [sic] one. “Very often it's seen as a women problem, not a football problem. The fact that we have one woman, or not even one woman, but one person with knowledge and competence from the women's side, in the board that should run the biggest sport for women, and also the most commercial sport for women. You know, this is a sport that gathers millions of people. …That you don't actually have competence in your board, that's a women problem?🤔” Our senior correspondent James Corbett had the privilege of attending the Play The Game conference in Trondheim, Norway🇳🇴, where Lisa Klaveness, President of Norway’s FA (NFF Oslo), delivered a presentation on the necessity for reform in football politics⚽️. Her commitment to driving change and her respectful approach to her work are truly inspiring. “I think maybe some people are evil, but I don't meet a lot of evil people in FIFA. I meet very good people, nice people.” Then she reflected: “But I think it's a structure and a culture of comfort and also a cartel…” Then the politician within her offered a clarification “… Maybe not a good word😀.” To achieve things in life, she says, “we have to go outside our comfort zone. And when we go outside our comfort zone, it's uncomfortable. That's where you feel stupid and alone and irrelevant. And people will tell you that you're irrelevant. Uncomfortable is uncomfortable. There’s no other way.” She adds: “Of course, you cannot just be in the uncomfortable zone always, but we have to do it if we want change, and we have to have teams around us that want to go there.” Full story here👇🏻 ($): https://lnkd.in/dBrzZi3h #womensfootball #SportsBusiness #Football #Partnership #Sponsorship #transfers #SportsBiz #Finance #Data #Tech #Intelligence #Investment #leadership #ownership
