Levelling up did not stop after I got hired... I see many people stop levelling up once they get hired for a particular job position which I feel is absolutely wrong because the job that you got right now is not your ultimate goal, of course if you find a good paying job, or a good environment for you, you will leave your current job. Everyone wants to grow only if its in their comfort zone. Talking about my own experience of getting an internship: a) I didn't get the internship overnight- The most assumed thing while finding a new job is that you will get the internship,or your desired job position overnight. Its not a piece of cake that you wake up one day and decide to eat. Around me, people who wanted an internship didn't realize its urgency until they had to submit the documents for the same. Guess what, some of the people in the tribe had an internship on hand before even the semester started including me. Did I do something extraordinary to find an internship? No I just connected and communicated well with the people to get an internship here on linkedin months before I wanted to start. The key factor that helped me is being open to constructive criticism. Will I stop applying to jobs if I do not fit in a particular job requirements? ABSOLUTELY NO. Will I level up myself to reach to a position where a recruiter hires me? YES. Getting an internship wasn't my end goal in my career, instead it was my goal to add a Canadian experience in my resume. Know what your goals are in your particular path of your career and you will get your answers right in-front of you. What is your take on levelling up? #linkedingrowth #upskill #internship #hires #linkedinforcreators #levellingup #work #career

Navigating the Internship Hunt: Insights for Fall 2024 The recent NACE Job Outlook Spring Update might have some grads feeling nervous, but here's a breakdown that caught my eye (as a soon-to-be graduate on the internship hunt!): Nearly 83% of employers surveyed by NACE anticipate increasing (24.9%) or maintaining (57.7%) hiring for the Class of 2024. This means there are still incredible internship opportunities out there for Fall 2024! Here's how I'm staying positive and proactive: 1) Sharpening My Skills: Employers are seeking well-rounded individuals with strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. I'm actively brushing up on these skills through online courses, workshops, or even participating in student clubs and organizations and surrounded by great career coaches Ana Nedelcu, and Shubham Pal. 2) Network, Network, Network! Building strong connections can be a game-changer. I'm leveraging online platforms like LinkedIn to connect with professionals in my field of interest, as well as attending relevant industry events to make myself known. 3) Proactive Outreach: Don't wait for opportunities to come to you! Tailoring strong cover letters and reaching out to companies directly shows initiative and genuine interest. 4) Highlighting My Value: Resumes are important, but showcasing your value proposition goes a step further. Focus on relevant projects, coursework, or volunteer experiences that demonstrate your skills and passion for the field. Feeling Inspired? Let's connect in the comments below! If you're a fellow grad navigating the internship hunt, share your tips and tricks. If you're a professional with insights to share, we'd love to hear them too! #Fall2024Internship #JobMarket #Classof2024 #NewGrads #InternshipHunts

I felt this conversation could benefit a larger audience. I was engaged in a Reddit thread about how to get into the IT field starting with no experience and how it exemplifies a huge problem with the dynamic of the employer/employee relationship for a large portion of the population and it is centered around unpaid internships. I had stated emphatically that unpaid internships are crap. they suggested I not spread my negativity to others... but here lies the core of my argument. I think paid mentorship is a muuuuuccchhhhhh better model even if the pay is low....unpaid internships are a crap deal from a humanistic perspective. The company gets free labor( which closely resembles some less than ideal institutions 😉...just sayin). Has it produced individuals capable of moving forward to be successful, sure, is it ideal, hell no....and the rest of life is not free. That scenario clearly benefits the employer way more than the employee and the same end result could be obtained while not shafting that person, but God forbid a company take out a pittance of their millions of profit to pay someone trying to build a life for themselves. I stand by my statement, unpaid internships are a crap deal and that mentality that people should be grateful for the "privelege" of giving their labor away for free is why the vast majority of people think corporations are soulless....because they often are and the rank and file boil down to a line item in a ledger, not a person worth investing in. I will leave you with a final thought...do better. #servantleaders #dobetter #servantleadersdoitbetter

Disguised Unemployment: Is It Really Worth It? In this competitive world, we’re all running after internships, roles in organizations, or college societies. But honestly, how many times have we paused and thought: Is this actually adding value to my growth? Yes, experience matters, but there’s a growing issue we don’t talk about enough—disguised unemployment. It’s when we’re part of something that sounds great on paper but doesn’t actually help us learn, grow, or develop any real skills. Take college societies, for example—how often do we see one simple task being split between multiple people, most of whom aren’t even needed? Or how about endless meetings where people show up late and time gets wasted because there are no clear rules or structure in place? Then, there’s internships—yes, even paid ones—where some days, the boss gives you tasks that feel unnecessary, just to keep you busy. While it’s tempting to accept this, it’s important to ask: Is this really helping me move forward? It’s easy to fall into the trap of just adding these experiences to your resume, but it’s more important to ask yourself: Is this helping me get where I want to go? If not, it’s totally okay to move on and focus on something that will. At the end of the day, quality > quantity, always! Let’s go after experiences that push us to grow and help us get better. #CareerGrowth #DisguisedUnemployment #Internships #CollegeSocieties #MeaningfulWork #LearningAndDevelopment #QualityOverQuantity

As professionals, we often advocate for the significance of internships in shaping future careers. Yet, it's baffling how many overlook internships when considering work experience. If internships don't count, then what truly distinguishes a candidate from being labeled a "fresher"? Internships are not mere footnotes on a resume; they're invaluable opportunities for hands-on learning, skill development, and industry exposure. They provide a platform for individuals to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios, fostering professional growth and adaptability. Ignoring internships in the evaluation of work experience perpetuates a disservice to both candidates. It undermines the efforts and dedication invested by interns and overlooks the tangible contributions they make to organizations. Let's challenge the conventional notion and recognize internships as substantial work experiences. By doing so, we not only acknowledge the efforts of aspiring professionals but also foster a more inclusive and equitable hiring landscape where talent is truly valued based on merit, not arbitrary labels. #InternshipsMatter #ProfessionalGrowth #CareerDevelopment

‘Hi Lakshay, can you guide me on how I can get an internship in a good company even after being from a tier 2 college” Now I have been receiving these types of texts from my juniors, friends and acquaintances and I always ask them one counter question and that is “who told you being from a tier 2 college means you cannot get into good companies or crack good internships?” I have seen some tier 2 students getting internships in some really great companies and even receiving PPOs from them. Tier 2 has nothing to do with your chance of getting selected into companies except sometimes when the company demands tier 1 students only, but the majority of times it depends on how you approach them, how you present yourself, your dedication to work and the skills that you have! The recent internship that I cracked at BJP is a great example of this, they received approx. 1000+ applications and CVs and only 3 were selected, and I was one of them! Here are 3 simple proven steps that have helped me in cracking internships:- 1. Cold mailing: - Cold mailing is a game changer, it’s a gem. On LinkedIn, I have seen people talking about this a lot, about how cold mailing has helped them in getting into their dream companies, and it’s a proven thing. All 3 internships that I have cracked are because of one thing and that is cold mailing. 2. Cold text on LinkedIn: - Yes, even if you have mailed them, you should text them too! It shows your dedication to work and if by chance, they do not open LinkedIn they will surely check their emails, so the chance that your mail will be read increases. 3. Taking a follow-up: -Most important step and mostly people do not do it, taking a follow up is very important! If you are texting or mailing someone, you should definitely take a follow up from them. But how do you cold mail, text or take a follow-up from someone? Like, what is the format? So, for that I will be sharing my template with you guys that have helped me in cracking internships at Unstop, Urban Company and BJP! Drop your mails. #Internships #Unstop #Urbancompany #BJP #DelhiUniversity

#InternshipStruggles #EmotionalJourney #JobHunt Hey, everyone! So, I just need to vent for a moment because, honestly, I’m on the verge of tears. 😢 Here’s the deal: I’m in the process of applying for internships—not even full-time jobs—yet I just faced a rejection that hit me hard. I worked super hard on my application, pouring my heart and soul into it, and now I’m left feeling totally deflated. What’s really frustrating about this whole internship hunt is how much effort and emotion we put into these applications. Let’s break it down: Investing Emotionally: Each application feels like a mini-relationship. We invest time, research, and even a part of ourselves into it. When we get a rejection, it’s like someone telling us that we didn’t measure up. The Pressure to Succeed: There’s this unspoken pressure that we should have everything figured out. Every rejection feels like a step backward, making the journey feel even more daunting. Fear of Uncertainty: Not knowing where the next o... Struggling with Job Rejections?
