The festival season is upon us! While it might not feel like summer is approaching in the UK it certainly is. However, are you ready for it? Music, cultural, food, beverage....no matter the type of festival it is, requires months of hard work behind the scenes and hundreds of people and suppliers to make the event that you see before you. An analogy that I often use with clients when I speak about their business, is the nightclub. If your business is a nighclub, then your team are on the dancefloor. Having a good time and enjoying their evening. Your managers are the best dancers on that floor. Other dancers try to dance with them or copy their moves. Managers should inspire the other dancers to be better than they are right now. Directors are the DJ. They control the room. The read the mood. They know when to speed up or slow down the music for the crowd. They understand their craft and occasionally take chances on new music. A DJ cannot control a nightclub from the dancefloor. They cannot run up and down from the DJ box to the dancefloor to change the music. If they try, the club becomes unhinged, disjointed and the mood and message of the evening gets lost and people leave. No-one wants to go to an empty club where the DJ is only playing the music that they themselves like. If you run a business, read the room and the people. A team that enjoys their work and their workplace will stay and it will encourage other dancers to join. #readtheroom #BusinessStrategy #growth #ghost
