A consistent social performance framework is essential to integrate seafarers into the ESG narrative and to uphold the industry’s social responsibility. This ensures stakeholders align chartering, finance, insurance, and engagement with genuine social values reflective of seafarers’ lives and work. Objective assessment of alignment with ESG principles requires first-hand observation of working conditions at sea which is why we created the Idwal Social Impact Score (SIS). Utilising data from thousands of physical inspections and interactions with seafarers, the SIS covers 10 pillars of social impact, with connectivity, management issues, and recreation showing the highest room for improvement. Get in touch with the team today to discover how these important social factors can be integrated into your charter, investment, and insurance decisions.
