Today, I honor Wildlife Rainforest Celebration Day, recognizing the profound biodiversity of our rainforests and the critical role they play in our global ecosystem. The Wildlife Trusts plays a vital role in preserving the UK’s natural heritage. As a proud supporter of The Wildlife Trust, I witness firsthand the incredible work being done. However, as climate change continues to threaten these vital ecosystems, we must explore innovative solutions. Artificial Intelligence holds significant potential to enhance conservation efforts, predict environmental shifts, and optimize resource management. Yet, political will is essential to combat these issues effectively. By supporting these initiatives and advocating for strong environmental policies, we can collectively pave the way for a sustainable future. #WildlifeRainforestDay #ClimateAction #Conservation #AIforGood #Sustainability

We’ve partnered with the RSPB to help turtle doves and other at-risk bird species thrive in East Anglia, a key sourcing region for fresh produce. Informed by the RSPB’s world-class conservation expertise, our partnership will support farmers and landowners in the area to create and enhance spaces for nature. Local habitat transformation aims to improve biodiversity, boost productivity, and provide protection against extreme weather caused by climate change. #Tesco Read more here: https://bit.ly/3OBDLz5

"Protecting the tapestry of life": While it's impossible to protect every single species, focusing on just one—whether a single species, a focal species, or a status-based species—is not enough either. We can preserve critical ecological roles, diverse habitats and species through effective conservation strategies. By considering complementarity and connectivity in conservation designs, we can make significant progress in protecting the diversity of life on our planet. But how do we put this into practice? Stay tuned! #HabitatSuitabilityModels #SpatialPrioritization #MultiTaxa #ProtectedAreas

WHY SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL? HALTING THE DOMINO EFFECT OF DEFORESTATION WWF and the standards and systems co-founded and/or supported by us like the RSPO know that when palm oil is produced sustainably, it helps to halt deforestation. Deforestation doesn’t just destroy trees. It displaces wildlife and local communities that depend on natural resources for their livelihoods, sustenance and traditions. Plus it has negative impacts on the wider environment, including air and water pollution, and soil erosion. When sustainable palm oil is produced in line with RSPO Standards, forests with areas of High Conservation Values (HCV) and High Carbon Stock (HCS) are protected and managed. This helps protect the habitats of many different species of endangered flora, animals and birds – from Sumatran tigers to South American macaws. #WorldRainforestDay Fran Raymond Price Damian Fleming Belinda Bowling Julia Young Ruth Silva Olivia Scholtz Ruth Thomas Joseph D’Cruz Nicholas H. Did you know rainforests cover about 6% of our planet’s land surface, providing critical habitats for diverse plants and animals? On World Rainforest Day, we reaffirm our commitment to conserving High Carbon Stock (HCS) and High Conservation Value (HCV) forests in line with RSPO Standards. Rich in carbon, these forests are essential for mitigating climate change by absorbing and storing carbon dioxide, and they also help protect the habitats of many endangered species of flora, animals, and birds. Today is International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem. Have you ever heard of Mangrove forests? Essentially, these forests form a unique wetland ecosystem, inhabiting the edge of land and sea, rooted and thriving in seawater. They're pretty unique, and offer a lot of benefits to our planet. For example, they promote biodiversity, as they're home to diverse species of fish, birds, and other wildlife. They also absorb and store vast amounts of carbon dioxide, helping combat climate change. Protecting these ecosystems is important in and of itself, but it's also important because of the benefits these habitats provide to our planet overall. Through education, advocacy, and collective action, we can ensure that these vital ecosystems continue to thrive for generations to come. #InternationalDayForTheConservationOfTheMangroveEcosystem #MangroveForests #Biodiversity

🌊 Today, March 14, marks the 27th International Day of Action for Rivers, with this year's theme being "Water for all". This day is dedicated to celebrating, safeguarding, and raising awareness about the vital importance of our life-giving rivers. Rivers are not just bodies of water; they are the lifelines of nations, shaping agriculture, communities, and commerce throughout history. However, they are under threat from pollution, habitat destruction, and unsustainable management practices. The journey of International Day of Action for Rivers began in 1997 when representatives from 20 countries convened in Brazil to adopt it. Since then, awareness has grown globally, with the first virtual celebration occurring in 2021 due to the pandemic. Why is action needed to save our rivers? Because they are essential for biodiversity, serving as habitats for diverse wildlife and endangered species. They are also crucial for sustaining ecosystems and mitigating climate change. This day is important as it unites people worldwide for a common cause, bringing attention to the urgent need for river conservation. Let's come together to protect our rivers, our planet's true saviors. 🌍💧 #InternationalDayofActionforRivers #WaterForAll #RiverConservation #SaveOurRivers #EnvironmentalProtection

The earth that gives us and all other creatures life should not need a single day to be honored. Making oneself a little more conscious of decisions that, when combined with millions of others, create an ocean of action rather than a drop in the pond - for example by choosing to plant a tree in the yard, drive less each week and bike or walk, or help clean up a local creek or stream - we give back in a good way. Each of us makes a decision about food. Cut out meat one or two days a week or source from ethical producers. Lobby to force a reduction in corporate ag dominance of the world food market. Small steps by millions can yield lasting results.
Throughout the year, we honor the wildlife and ecosystems with which we share this world. While there are hundreds of ways to honor Mother Earth, especially for #EarthDay, it’s important to find the activities that work best for you.
