Yes! Another Hive member… and what a journey we have been on! Over the years I created many events where beginners can learn how to play poker, largely media and influencer events... These events meant you could have relaxed, fun one-on-one time with people explaining the game and sharing anecdotes. This usually resulted in people wanting to learn more. However it’s so hard to scale something like that, that tangible experience… and we know walking into a casino isn’t always the most comfortable experience, especially if you don’t fully know what you’re doing. And what if you wanted to improve your game but you weren’t part of any particular community? Yes there are blogs and books and courses out there, but if you’re someone with a busy life and only a certain amount of time and money, it’s going to be hard to know where to start! A few years ago I was dwelling on this from a female perspective. We needed to offer more educational and comfortable opportunities that fit into life and were easy to pick up. Even better if they could result in amazing live experiences you perhaps wouldn’t have had the chance to go for normally. I had heard of Poker Power, mostly about Erin, through my amazing friend Jennifer and I thought… let’s have a conversation and see what we can do. I’m so glad I did. We did some really amazing stuff together, bootcamps and courses, and live experiences, with stories for days! These people formed communities who still meet up and do things together, and incredibly still love the game. However, the thing I’m mostly thankful for are that these things brought very special people into my life! Erin and I wanted to do so much good together, and we achieved it against all odds. Although things came to an end with that chapter for both of us, I firmly believe we were only just getting started… I’m very keen that her spirit and smarts rub off on me for the longest time.

Now and then, you get to meet rockstars! That’s how I felt when I first was introduced to Rebecca McAdam Willetts. Today she’s a friend, colleague and inspiration! I am thrilled to celebrate her launch of QueenBHive, a creative collaboration that brings great brands and talented people together. Rebecca’s hive offers PR, partnerships, design, content, research and more. A woman-owned biz that’s buzzing with expertise and innovation. Come join the hive! And thanks for the #queenbhive swag! ❤️

One of my favourite events of the year at Rakuten.ca. In today's fast-paced, technology-driven world, it's easy to get caught up in metrics, deadlines, and deliverables. But let's not forget the most crucial element of any successful organization: the people. Humanizing your team isn't just a nice-to-have; it's a must-have. Here's why: Boosts Morale and Engagement: When team members feel seen and valued as individuals, their motivation and engagement levels soar. They’re more likely to go the extra mile and contribute their best work. Fosters Innovation: A culture that celebrates diverse perspectives and encourages open communication leads to creative problem-solving and innovation. When people feel safe to express their ideas, magic happens. Builds Trust and Loyalty: Trust is the foundation of any strong team. By showing genuine care and empathy, leaders can build lasting relationships that withstand challenges and change. Enhances Collaboration: Humanized teams are more cohesive. When people understand and respect each other’s strengths and weaknesses, collaboration becomes seamless and more effective. Improves Well-being: A supportive and understanding work environment contributes to the overall well-being of team members. This not only reduces stress but also promotes a healthier work-life balance. Remember, at the heart of every successful project, every innovative idea, and every milestone achieved, are people. Let’s make sure we’re not just managing teams, but truly leading and humanizing them. #Leadership #TeamBuilding #HumanizeYourTeam #WorkplaceCulture #EmployeeEngagement #EmpathyInLeadership
Yesterday, our team AND their families gathered at Earl Bales Park for what we like to call a Day-O-Fun! This annual event is one of our favourites of the year as we not only get to bond as a team, but we get to know their families as well.

🚀 Ever wondered why we celebrate Memorial Day with BBQs and sales, but not with a moment of reflection? 🤔 Happy Memorial Day from Lifestyle Retail Recruiters! As we fire up the grill and enjoy the long weekend, let's take a moment to remember the true meaning behind this day. It's not just about the burgers and the bargains, but about honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. So here's a question for you: How do you balance celebrating the holiday with remembering its significance? Do you have any traditions or rituals that help you keep the spirit of Memorial Day alive? For me, it’s a mix of both. I love a good BBQ as much as the next person, but I also make it a point to visit a local memorial or participate in a community event. It’s a small way to show gratitude and keep the memory of our heroes alive. What about you? Do you think we’ve strayed too far from the original intent of Memorial Day, or is there a way to blend celebration with commemoration? Drop your thoughts in the comments below! Let’s get a conversation going and maybe even share some ideas on how we can all make this day more meaningful. Like this post if you agree, and don’t forget to share your Memorial Day traditions! #MemorialDay #RememberAndHonor #CommunityTraditions
