Two months in and our summer trainees are thriving! Out of 600+ applicants, we welcomed Iiro, Heta, and Harsh—three talented young professionals—to our software development teams. Here is their key take aways so far:   🌍 Global Impact: “Even though I was aware of the global reach of Cadmatic, it took me as surprise how fast Cadmatic is from the customers to the internal operations. Read here two more interviews with former blog team members.   Lukas Kircher In which year were you on the editorial team? ↪️ I was on the Bürkert blog team in 2014/2015 and 2015/2016. How did you join the Bürkert blog team? ↪️ I was asked by the responsible and my trainer. What kind of training/studies did you do back then? And what is your current job? ↪️ I trained as an electronics technician for devices and systems. After my training, I completed a distance learning programme to become a state-certified technician. Now I work in the Synchro Basis team as a process designer. We standardise processes in the production system and develop new technologies for production. My specialisms are ↪️ Energy monitoring (recording energy and resource consumption) ↪️ ESD officer (conducting ESD audits in Germany / France) ↪️ Rollout of shop floor boards and production assistant systems)   Jan Hettinger In which year were you part of the editorial team? ↪️ I was part of the Bürkert blog team in 2017/2018 and 2018/2019. What kind of training/studies did you do back then? And what is your current job? ↪️ Back then, I did an apprenticeship specialising in mechatronics. I then went on to study mechatronics at Bürkert on a dual study programme and have been working in the system house ever since. Get to Know Our Team – Meet Maurice! 👋 Maurice grades works as a student trainee at #ELOKON in Germany and will soon complete his Bachelor‘s degree in #computerscience. Since he started working with us, he has learned a lot about electronics and is now putting his knowledge to practical use: At the moment, he is primarily responsible for designing circuit boards for our machines. 🛠️ To help you get to know him better, we have collected a few fun facts about him: 🐱 If Maurice had a superpower, it would be to summon all kinds of animals like a Disney princess. Speaking of animals: He himself would love to be a cat – elegant, relaxed and not one to be fooled. 🍝 Everyone needs the perfect snack for a successful day at work, and Maurice prefers to crunch on uncooked pasta. Not only are they tasty, but nibbling on them is also the perfect stress relief. 🏢 If he could swap positions with someone for a day, it would be Managing Director Mario Duemer, who interacts with many employees from various departments every day. Thus, Maurice would be able to gain new and exciting insights into the company. Fast forward to my final year, and I'm proud to share that I’ve secured the **top placement** in core Mechanical! 💼 This journey has taught me the value of perseverance, humility, and constant learning. Sometimes, it’s not about where you start but about the dedication you put in along the way. “The program offers a supportive environment where young professionals can learn from experienced mentors, work on real projects, and develop valuable industry specific expertise,” says Manufacturing Apprentice Anna Hutson. The Bosch Apprenticeship Program, powered by U.S. Department of Labor, provides practical skills, industry knowledge, and networking opportunities to help professionals like Anna achieve their career goals. In a ‘Bottle Cap Project’ focused on designing, manufacturing, and assembling designs, apprentices worked to advance their teamwork and problem-solving skills. “The project consisted of 3 steps. Each group started by designing, drafting, and making a parts list. Then, we got the chance to swap our designs to manufacture them. For the last step, we swapped once again to assemble the finished product. This project taught us the importance of including detailed information upfront to manufacture a part. Dear Young Industrial Engineer currently working #letstalk No-one else knows the place you working at better than you do. You are the one who is inside that organization. Yes sure you are hired for a specific role or Graduate Program. However think in terms of Pain points. What or Whose pain point can I solve today. During the Operations/Production meeting listen to people's pain points and see what you can do about them. Most likely the company you are working at is not the only doing that kind of job, research how other companies are handling that problem. Sure shout when you need help but research, research for yourself. The internet is full of information. Thomas Edison says: " Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work." Which is very true. Back in 2007/2008 I think there was about 6 if not 7 of us doing our intership at that Tier1 Automotive supplier company, the OEM was helping their suppliers implement Lean, they called it Toyota Production System. All six/seven of us had an opportunity to do a project and submit to the OEM to receive a certificate in Toyota Production Systems. But if my memory serves me correct only one guy submitted. My dear friend found a project and followed the process to submit to be certified. Did the rest of us not have projects? No, we had projects, we just didn't feel like doing the work required for submission to be marked. Heck, One of the projects I did on standard times led to me doing a project on #SMED which then led me to Production planning. But I didn't submit. I missed the opportunity to be certified. That place was full of opportunities from Raw Material Stores, Production Planning, Despatch, Maintenance, Chemical Plant. I think another fortunate thing was that, there were Mechanical, Industrial and Chemical Engineering interning at that Period we learned a lot from each other and collaborated with each other. Look around you and find opportunities for yourself. "One opportunity used wisely can change your life dramatically." "Success is where preparation and opportunity meet."
