Backups Are Not Enough, Recovery Speed Matters Too Just because you have backups doesn’t mean you can recover from a disaster quickly. One hard lesson I've learned is that restoring from the cloud can be painfully slow. When time is critical, waiting for large datasets to download can stretch what should be hours into days and sleepless nights. The key is to balance your backups between cloud and local options, and ensure you’re testing not just the backups but also the recovery speed. The goal isn’t just data recovery, but to have minimal downtime. #DisasterRecovery

When you travel, just assume your computer will break and your data will be lost on the trip. So… Get a fast, reliable USB-C SSD external backup drive and use Time Machine to back up your Mac. Get Backblaze installed on your Mac and let it back up your files securely to the cloud. Make a recurring monthly reminder to restore some files from your Time Machine backup drive AND Backblaze to verify they're both running as expected. Do these 3 things and you'll have a bulletproof backup system.
