With a little under a month to go until the European Parliament elections, @ibec has the recently its 'Electing for Business' manifesto. The manifesto notes that the strength of the European economy and its ability to deliver for people depend on businesses of all sizes which determines Europe's capacity to grow, attract investment, and create job opportunities. The manifesto also highlights the impact of competition and regulation, advancing the European single market, enabling the labour market, and addressing trade barriers and other key priorities. #EUelections2024 #UseYourVote #ElectingforBusiness

"With elections across the globe reshaping the regulatory landscape, recent shifts in the EU signal potential for small business growth." As the new EU Parliament and Commission set priorities post-election, there's an opportunity to refine tech regulations, making it easier for SMEs to compete. By focusing on consistent enforcement rather than new regulations, the EU could help level the playing field, reducing compliance burdens and empowering innovation for small businesses worldwide. ➡️ We highlighted these themes in our TechUK blog submission earlier this year - learn how these policy shifts can redefine the future for SMEs in the digital economy: https://loom.ly/xqgMJFk #GlobalElections #SupportSMEs #DigitalPolicy #EUElections

I keep calling on #Europe to have faith in itself and to push ahead with hope and optimism not fear and #protectionism. #Technology has been made so political. EU elections on 9th of June 2024 🇪🇺 This week, we hosted an exciting debate on the upcoming elections to the EU Parliament at our ONE METRO Campus in Düsseldorf. In my welcome speech, I addressed three important points: 1. A spirit of Renaissance for the European Union: We need to reinvigorate the European Union as a union of free trade and freedom. 2. Impact on METRO employees: At METRO, we employ 60,000 people across 16 countries within the European Union. All of them are affected by EU regulations. 3. The Single Market: A crucial component to maintain Europe’s economic strength, the Single Market must once again become the centerpiece of European integration - a source of wealth and business opportunities. Currently, we face excessive bureaucracy and overregulation. The EU and its Member States must simplify processes, reduce costs, and enhance productivity. Better regulation, not more regulation, is the key. Our panel discussion explored the current political landscape within the EU, the barometer of public opinion, and predictions for the upcoming EU election. Many thanks to our guest speakers: Moritz Körner, Head of the FDP delegation in the European Parliament at FDP, Christel Delberghe, Director General at EuroCommerce and René Moerland, publisher at Euractiv And a special thank you to our moderators Ivonne Julitta Bollow and Illa Brockmeyer from our Corporate Responsibility & Public Policy team. So, put your vote to work. Participate in the European elections on 9th of June 2024 >> https://lnkd.in/d2pEX4C5

Vote today for the EU you want to live in tomorrow! Under the name #WeStandForValues, more than 30 large and well-known German companies have joined forces to form an alliance for diversity, openness and tolerance. We are a member of this alliance and are committed to the values that characterise the European Union. After all, #democracy, #diversity and intercultural #coexistence are prerequisites for economic success. 🤝 As an international wholesaler, METRO/MAKRO is active in around 30 countries, of which 16 countries with around 60,000 employees are in the European Union. Accordingly, EU policy is of great importance to our company and our employees, and free trade and competition within the EU is a key lever for our success. 🤝 Thanks to the #SingleMarket, for example, we can easily source fruit, vegetables, meat or fish for our #own brands in Spain, France or the Netherlands and sell them in other European countries, thus ensuring that our customers everywhere have access to high-quality goods at a good price. 🤝 And thanks to the #EU, our employees are free to move and work across borders, contributing to our success. The European elections are on 9 June 2024, and Europe affects us all. It is about preserving democracy, freedom, openness to the world, diversity and, not least, free trade and competition. Together, we want to raise awareness in the workplace and beyond of these values and what this election is about - for our business and for each and every one of us.
