You are always one step ahead in the journey than someone else... Last Tuesday, I was invited by Roberto Abramovich to share some insights about my learning journey creating Alyx at IÉSEG School of Management. It was just a 40-minute presentation, but the kind of presentation that I know would have changed my life 10 years ago when I was at IMT Nord Europe. Then, I took it seriously. However, I asked myself... "I just started Alyx, we recently launched our first product, and we're fighting to get our first customers. What on earth should I tell these people?" But the answer is simple. A successful entrepreneur makes you dream, but those dreams can seem too abstract compared to your reality. What's great about people who are just a few steps ahead of you in the journey is that the success you admire in them is completely attainable for you. And for me, that's one of the greatest things about being in an ecosystem such as EuraTechnologies . There’s always someone just a few meters ahead to guide you through the exact challenges you're facing. Anyway... enough theory. I had to share some practical insights about #productdevelopment. 1. It's easy to say you'll prioritize the features your customers prefer. The problem is when half of your customers want A and the other half want B. At that point, you need to know your real product vision and what you truly bring to the table. 2. Incubators, partners, and advisors are great for helping you with many challenges when you're building a company. But they are not your customers. Don’t prioritize their opinions over qualified customer insights. 3. Software development is a mental challenge. Not about coding, because I don't code, but about prioritizing. You have this beautiful vision of what it will become in the future, but you can't achieve it all right now. You're constantly leaving things behind. This plays a lot with your anxiety as a founder. Companies like Cocacola and Pepsi, for instance, are always monitoring each other’s moves, not just to stay relevant, but to innovate and improve continuously.
