Really insightful article from Yifei (Yvonne) Liu and the TeamForm team. Particularly like the point about how using data in workforce planning can help engage and retain top talent. From my own experiences, some of the most engaging points in my career have been when I have been working on something, and then repointed to tackle more important strategic problems. This is possible at a small scale when a teams leaders have clarity on the skills people have and the priorities of their space. Where it becomes challenging is as scale increases. How can leaders know if the work their team is doing is the most important work they could be doing, if they don’t have visibility of these 3 things: 1. The priorities in every part of the organisation. 2. The skills required to deliver on those priorities. 3. Whether those priorities are fully resourced. This is where, in my view, data and tools become a critical strategic enabler for a company. If an organisation has an internally transparent set of priorities, frameworks in place for identifying which work is most important, and a process for identifying what skills and resources are needed to deliver on these priorities, then an organisation can easily point their talent to these priorities. This creates agility - and ultimately it leads to organisations being more efficient, more responsive, and overall more successful in the pursuit of their mission and delivery of customer value. #waysofworking #teamplanning #prioritisation #agile #agility
