Another week another conferring of great minds at the 3rd conference of the Swiss #ImplementationScience Network (IMPACT) hosted in Geneva! As little as 14% of research in #healthcare is implemented, which may on average take up to 15 years! At the same time "low-value" practices are in place harming patients as well as the #environment. Implementation science adresses these issues - the Achilles' Heel: jumping to solutions! We need to get to the root cause through diagnostic evaluations of barriers and #ChooseWisely. (De)-implementation may also mean changing habitual #behaviors - a challenge we want to take on to reduce research waste and ensure high quality patient care. Thanks to the University Hospital Basel for supporting this, the Institute for Implementation Science in Health Care (IfIS) for a welcoming and inspiring first week and IMPACT (https://lnkd.in/eAXZn9sz) for a great conference!

https://lnkd.in/e4g4UeAr The Medical Research Council, Greener NHS at NHS England and National Institute for Health and Care Research, have joined together to showcase a number of research projects that seek to find solutions for a more sustainable health research and healthcare sector. Together the three organisations have a significant environmental impact but equally influence on the wider sector through funding, collaborations, supply chain and are collaborating closely to understand the dependencies between health of the environment and health of human beings. Research plays a pivotal role in advancing this agenda by not only identifying and addressing knowledge gaps necessary for delivering a net-zero health service, but also by establishing best practices to conduct healthcare research sustainably.
