For the 2024 Chestertons Polo In The Park (at Hurlingham Park) over 300 horses were in London for the games The Hurlingham Polo Association: Founded in 1875, the Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA) is the governing body for polo in the UK and Ireland, and it sets the rules and standards for the game. Chukkas: A polo match is divided into periods called chukkas (or chukkers), each lasting 7 minutes. There is a 3-minute break between chukkas and a 5-minute halftime. A typical game consists of 4 to 8 chukkas, with players often changing horses between chukkas to ensure the horses are not overworked. Teams: The game involves two teams of four players.
