Happy Holidays! If you're Christian, I encourage you to dig deeper into your faith and really learn what it means to be a Christian. Start with the lambs the shepherds were guarding outside of Bethlehem. Understanding those particular sheep will fundamentally change your understanding of your faith. If you're Jewish, remind people what it it celebrates--that it's about regaining Jerusalem and rededicating the temple. Let folks know it's about home and remembering one's place in this crowded world. And maybe explain dreidels to share some of the joy of how you celebrate the season. If you observe Kwanza, highlight the holiday's focus on unity and celebration of African values and culture. If you really want to blow their socks off, invite them to take part in your Karamu dinner. And all you Neo-pagans who celebrate the ancient holidays predating most of the contemporary ones, pick a day, pick a festival, and have your friends over. As many people as there are in this world there are holiday traditions, celebrations, and observations. Keep and treasure yours. Honor theirs. Most important, though: Remember your fellow humans and just human better. That's how we have peace on Earth. That's how we can truly have a happy holiday.
