𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐞-𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐈 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 On 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟔𝐭𝐡 I attended the first of a series of 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞-𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐈 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, organised by the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE), an implementation agency of MIRAI, designed to promote understanding of Japan and build a strong network among the participants from various countries, before we visit Japan in person 🇯🇵✨. During the session, we had the pleasure of receiving a warm greetings from 𝐌𝐬. 𝐊𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢 𝐇𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐢, Director of the Youth Exchange Division at JICE , who gave us an insightful presentation about the 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐈𝐂𝐄 and their mission to 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 🌍🤝. Established in 1977, 𝐉𝐈𝐂𝐄 has been implementing various invaluable programs for international exchange and training, commissioned by 𝐉𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. What amazed me the most was discovering how the 𝐉𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐓𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 involves people from  the 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚-𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜, 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚, 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 through various initiatives, similar to MIRAI, which is dedicated to 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞. After this introduction, they shared with us videos and pictures from previous MIRAI programs, and it felt surreal. I still can’t believe I will have the chance to 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 while deepening my understanding of 𝐉𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐧'𝐬 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞. They also showed us the activities available to participants after completing the program, and I never thought it would be possibile to attend such incredible events like 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 - truly a unique experience! 𝐌𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐈, which stands for 𝐌𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥-𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞, is definitely more than just a program; it’s a bridge that connects us all 🌉💫. #MIRAI2024 #MIRAIalumni #sharemyMIRAI #womeninscience

Culture Summit 2024 inaugurates a new series entitled MONDIACULT Ministerial Dialogue jointly organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and UNESCO This ambitious new multilateral platform offers Culture Ministers a unique opportunity to share with the global culture and creative sector's ecosystem gathered in Abu Dhabi their reflections on the outcomes of MONDIACULT 2022 and how they see their work paving the way towards MONDIACULT 2025. This year the Dialogue will focus on the seminal Declaration for Culture adopted unanimously by 150 States which positioned Culture as a Global Public Good. Ministers from across the world will explain what the Declaration means symbolically, stress how the case for culture is made at ministerial level and finally outline some directions to make a collective case for culture as a specific objective in its own right among the next United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and how the global creative community could contribute to building this case.

Abu Dhabi Culture Summit 2024. Sandwiched in the middle of a two-week Cultural and Creative Industries policy development workshop in Oman, TFCC played a prominent role in the Abu Dhabi Culture Summit 2024. Building on our role in the 2022 Summit, we were asked to develop a Policy Strand. This involved developing a set of themes for three interlinked panel discussions which connect cultural policy to the Summit's overarching theme: 'A Matter of Time'. This also provided the opportunity for TFCC to invite a selection of policy visionaries and innovators from across the world. It was a privilege to bring together talented people who might otherwise not meet and exchange ideas. Highlights included the contributions of: - Saulo Faria Almeida Barretto - a true visionary for human-centred development with a long-term social innovation programme in Sergipe, Brazil that can be adapted as a sustainable model across the world - Jemi Laclé - with a call for youth-centred approaches to strategy and policy and an appeal to build trust through arts and culture in a year of such seismic elections - Kristin Danielsen of Kulturdirektoratet - who gave a compelling overview of the challenges facing cultural policy-makers and development agencies in a time of poly-crisis - Nguyen Thi Thu Ha of Vietnam Institute of Culture and Arts Studies - who told us the 12-year story of policy development since the country's first National Cultural Industries Strategy. This year TFCC has been commissioned to develop a Summit Report - highlighting key themes and shaping agendas which are vital to the cultural sector in such a fragile, urgent and challenging era. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. Some years ago, I was a girl hosting a #TEDx Event with a passion to bring local ideas from Vietnam globally. The more I go out and explore the world; the more amazing #tech products made by Vietnamese minds fill me with pride (they are Flappy Bird, Katalon, akaBot, CiVAMs, Rework etc). Then, I joined a start-up and had chances to see how a product is built with my own eyes; how even smallest features are improved everyday; how our product transform the way people work & collaborate… From simply ideas; my passion evolved; to bring quality Vietnamese products globally. It’s a challenging-yet-exciting journey. I learnt this along the way: 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝. We love it when we start doing it, consistently. It’s never easy.
