The Heart of Health Connections: Our Team 💛💛 Behind every patient journey we support, there’s an incredible team making it happen. Let me tell you a story…. A few months ago, our team was called to help a young person experiencing a severe mental health crisis. It was one of those moments where compassion, expertise, and teamwork were not just important — they were critical. What I saw that day was extraordinary. 🚑 One of our team members took the time to sit with the young person, listen to their fears, and reassure them. 🧠 Another expertly coordinated with mental health professionals to ensure the transition was as seamless as possible. 💡 And when things became overwhelming, the entire team worked together to de-escalate the situation, creating a sense of calm and trust. This wasn’t just a "job" to them. It was a purpose. What makes our team special isn’t just their training or their professionalism — it’s their unwavering dedication to people. Every patient, every family, every journey matters to them. To the Health Connections team, you are the reason we can truly make a difference. Thank you for your compassion, your resilience, and your belief in the work we do. To everyone reading this - What’s a moment when a team inspired you? Let’s celebrate the people behind the scenes who go above and beyond every day. #TeamHealthConnections #CompassionInAction #PeopleFirst #MentalHealthCare #ThankYouTeam

Last month, in my first official capacity as dr. and as a board member of the Global Clinical Advisory Board at Spring Health, I had the privilege of presenting "What Really Happens in Therapy?" for Microsoft during #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth. Reflecting on the webinar has provided valuable insights, even though I cannot share specific details. During the webinar, participants expressed their difficulties in discussing therapy with their families, finding it challenging to open up to loved ones about seeking professional help. This prompted me to reflect on the broader challenge of feeling accepted as our true selves amidst external judgments—a theme that resonated deeply with me. Growing up in an Asian family, I understand firsthand how difficult it can be to navigate these conversations. There is often a cultural reluctance to discuss mental health openly, making it even more challenging to seek and talk about therapy. I strongly advocate for accepting and embracing all aspects of ourselves, even those that may be challenging or painful. Whether it's through opening up with trusted individuals or acknowledging that some aspects may remain unresolved, this acceptance is crucial for personal healing and growth. It enables us to move forward with greater clarity and resilience. I am committed to continuing my work with clients to dismantle barriers and foster a world that is more inclusive and compassionate. #MentalHealth #Therapy #PersonalGrowth #MentalHealthAwareness #SpringHealth #CulturalAwareness

I had a conversation about mental health with one of my colleagues recently as I discharged a little client of mine. As clinicians, our work goes beyond mere professional duties. Every client we support, every family we engage with, we naturally form meaningful bonds. The journey we go through together often feels personal and emotional. Discharging a client or when they discontinue their journey with us brings a mix of emotions. We celebrate their progress and victories, yet we also experience the bittersweet feeling of parting ways. These moments are like farewells to dear friends rather than the end of a professional engagement. Many of us can relate to parents and families who continue to check in on us, ensuring we're doing well even after their journey with us has ended. This continued connection speaks volumes about the mutual impact we've had on each other’s lives Finding the right clinician for our clients to transfer to is a critical task. It’s not just about ensuring they receive the best care; it’s about ensuring they feel supported and understood, just as they did with us. Having said all that, here's a recent statement from a little friend who got discharged - "I miss you, teacher Abi". ofcourse, it brought me to tears :') It’s important to share these experiences and emotions with someone whether a peer or in a journal. I'm beginning to feel the real need to discuss the impact that clients and families have had on me, and vice versa. It reminds us of the meaningful work we do and the profound connections we make along the way. Let’s continue to support each other in this journey, sharing stories and embracing the emotional depth of our roles. Looking forward to reading some of your experiences too. #MentalHealth #ClinicalCare #ClientCare #ProfessionalJourney #EmotionalSupport #HealthcareCommunity #speechlanguagepathologist #slplife #MeaningfulWork
