Is growth always vertical? In my opinion, no. Here's why: 1. You can climb the corporate ladder the way everyone shows you, but does that always create a fulfilling environment? 2. Growth could be a change of department or company. It could be growing yourself out of a job. 3. Growth doesn't always equal promotions. Growth is the development of new skills. It's being open to new adventures every day. #Growth #Vertical #Skills #Promotions #Development #Fulfillment #NewAdventure #Recruiting #Staffing

Imagine that you are hired for a new job. You sit down with the person who will be your boss to go over expectations. Because your workplace has worked extensively with Jesse Katen 😉 the conversation will go like this: “Welcome to our organization. We are thrilled you chose to bring your talents and potential here. We can’t wait to see what we can accomplish with you on board and we look forward to how you will change us for the better. You see, we are committed to improving everyday but we have a very strong core philosophy and set of values that we live by. You will find that we are certain of what we’re about. We genuinely believe in a real way that our people are our most valuable asset. We understand that your talents will be our strengths. So we are convinced that our number one priority needs to be the development of your talents and potential. This is not a workplace but a learning place. Our leaders view themselves not as bosses but as teachers. You will be encouraged to grow, to gain new experiences, and to develop genuine confidence here. We will ensure you feel supported so you do not hesitate to take positive and productive risks, which we know will both encourage your development and promote innovation on your part, which will also benefit us. We know you will learn best if you are unafraid to make attempts or mistakes. We hope you will grow into a leadership position here because we invest heavily in the career trajectories of our people. We will give you everything you need to meet that challenge. We are certainly interested in our productivity and profitability but we have learned that our significant successes with these, as well as our stellar reputation, are the results of our primary commitment to the development of talent in our people. Our vision is to make you so valuable that our competitors will clamor to hire you and yet you are so happy in our environment that you would never wish to leave. To that end, we have created an environment where your goals for yourself are in perfect harmony with the goals we have for you as well as for ourselves. You’ll find we have taken care to ensure that our policies, practices, and processes align with our unique philosophy and remind you of your value to us. Here, you are encouraged to be as unique as we are. We hope you will welcome the opportunity to both develop your talents with us and to help others develop theirs, which will also be inspiring and rewarding for you. Let’s introduce you to everyone. They are so excited to meet you.”

When asked, I always encourage a more holistic approach to career success. While a high salary can certainly be an important part of a fulfilling career, it does not always come with job satisfaction, professional achievement, or personal happiness. True career fulfillment often comes from finding engaging work that stimulates growth, aligns with personal values, and contributes to larger goals. When evaluating career advancement, the belief that "it's who you know" that matters most can be limiting. While connections are valuable, hard work and merit play a crucial role in achieving success. Relying solely on relationships may overlook the contributions of dedicated individuals who drive tangible results aligned with company goals. Emphasizing merit over networking fosters a culture of accountability and ensures that promotions and opportunities are based on performance rather than personal connections. #CareerSuccess #MeritOverNetworking #ProfessionalGrowth

You Are More Than Your Job Title In today’s business world, it’s easy to be recognized by your job title, position, or the role you hold. However, titles only matter while you're with a company. At the end of the day, what truly defines you in the eyes of your team and peers—past and present—is your actions, your choice of words and most importantly how you treated them.People may not remember the exact role you had or the tasks you accomplished, but they will never forget how you made them feel. We often focus on achieving results, executing strategies, and meeting targets, while these are important, they are not what people remember about you in long-term. Rather your behavior, your choice of words, your values, and the respect you show others will be remembered Roles can change, Company can be switched, promotions can come and go.. In the long run, people remember the kind of person you were, the values you stood for, and the relationships you nurtured. While your job title may get you into certain rooms or provide recognition, it’s your character that will leave a lasting mark in the hearts and minds of others. IT MIGHT NOT AFFECT YOU NOW.. BUT IT WILL DEFINITELY AFFECT YOU IN LONG-TERM

Investing in your team's growth and development not only enhances their skills but also fosters a sense of loyalty and commitment. When employees see that their potential is recognized and opportunities for advancement are available, they are more likely to stay and contribute to the long-term success of the organization. #EmployeeGrowth #TalentDevelopment #hiring #hiringnow #hiringimmediately #jobopening #recruitment #recruitments #job #jobpost #Loyalty #Opportunity #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerAdvancement

Your perspective is spot on. A holistic approach to career success considers not only financial rewards but also personal fulfillment, growth, and alignment with values. Engaging work that ignites passion and contributes to a greater purpose often leads to lasting satisfaction.

A high salary can be enticing, but true career fulfillment comes from passion, growth, and impact. I'm one of the many who learned that the hard way through the pandemic. Eventually, it wasn't a choice of staying in the high-paying position or, find a new job. It was, find a new job or end up in the hospital because you have no work/life balance and you're burning the candle at both ends to try to fulfill unrealistic goals set by someone who will let you go without a second thought because you didn't make those goals. I'm not a fan of the term "toxic workplace" because ultimately, it comes down to unhappy people making people unhappy, the workplace is toxic because of those unhappy people. But, I understand the sentiment and the need to do everything you can to make the place you work, a place you want to be. Money drives most of us, nothing is free but, it's my experience - the higher the salary, the higher the stress. Choose carefully and don't neglect yourself - I promise no one else is going to take care of you.

Visibility at work is very important because it leads to opportunities that create career growth. There is an idea called PIE (Performance, Image and Exposure) by Harvey Coleman's, “Empowering Yourself, The Organizational Game Revealed", of factors affecting career success. Performance, in terms of how good you are at your job and how good the results are of what you do. Image is about you and how you are perceived (personal branding) and finally, Exposure is all about how well people know about what you do. How well you do your work is just not good enough to ensure career success. When thinking about promotions or succession planning then these 3 concepts are key ingredients .Value equals substance and visibility: if you do great work and no one sees it then there's no value associated with it. #career #visibility #grow #headhunter #hrmanagement
