A real honour to address the island of Ireland’s Loughs Agency International Symposium in Derry today. Main points: Two global grand challenges shaping the planet: 1. climate change 2. global inequality. We need new international relations tools & models to mitigate both. Thats why need to move 'environmental peace building' from platitude to practice to policy - fast. The Loughs Agency was established under the Good Friday Agreement to manage the transboundary waters of Foyle and Carlingford. Great to see the Agency thriving and hosting these important international discussions.

As we mark Earth Day, HU remains committed to our mission of cultivating enduring peace and freedom by addressing human exploitation and violent conflict. Guided by our belief in the interconnectedness of global challenges, we recognize the vital intersections between climate issues and the issues we address, such as forced labor, peacebuilding, and racial justice. While our focus may not be directly on environmental initiatives, we acknowledge the imperative of joining efforts to address the climate crisis. #EarthDay #EarthDay2024

Climate solutions are within reach, yet the finance to bring them to life remains elusive and not nearly enough. There is a clear and urgent need for climate finance to be on everyone's top agenda. Last year, at COP28's inaugural Faith Pavilion, FFOP and Duke Divinity School launched a report with insights from leaders in faith and finance to explain how Muslims, Christians, and Jews are sitting on the cusp of potentially game-changing means of climate finance: religious philanthropy, and why it promises to open a new chapter in sustainable development and environmental stewardship. On 24th April 2024, FFOP is joined by our partners at Duke Divinity School, Abdullah T. Antepli and Norman Wirzba, as editors of this groundbreaking report, in conversation with select authors and industry experts Melissa Raphael Alberto Pallecchi and Hayu Prabowo to demystify the findings of the report, and to shed light on the intricate interplay between faith, finance and the future of our planet. Your questions are as valuable to us as our experts' insights. So join us for this critical conversation. To receive an invite and reminders for the event, please register via the link below.
