For my petite clients, I use a few DIY styling and tailoring tricks (no needle and thread required 🧵) 👚 When a button down shirt is too long or oversized, only partially button it and tie the excess fabric at the waist. Rouche the back of it up to match the length in the front. You can also do this with a half front tuck as well! 👖 Find jeans with a raw hem meaning there is no stitching. Use a sharp scissors and cut straight across to desired length. Do this after laundering in case the fabric shrinks. Read for an amazing offer: Shirting is often overlooked when considering having clothing made, yet it’s the one item that arguably people need most. Over the years, many clients will purr over how nicely their brand new tailored suit or jacket fits, but will wear it with a shirt bought at a compromise. Either they’ll buy a collar that fits (and let’s face it, that’s likely all that fits on the shirt) or they’ll buy a shirt that fits the body well enough, but the collar will be miles away from fastening. Why? Well, I happen to have asked a few people the question and the answers are as follows: - I rarely wear a tie anymore, so I don’t mind if the collar doesn’t fasten. (Maybe so, but it moves the second button closer to your neck and looks strained. Your collar may also fall under your jacket lapels) - Nobody sees my shirt when my suit jacket is on. (Ok, but what about when you remove the jacket?? All that effort to have a great suit ruined when you take the jacket off.) - I go through shirts too quickly to care about them. (Good quality cannot be underestimated. I have shirts in the wardrobe from 5 and 6 years ago, they still look great!) - Your shirts are expensive. I can get them for £50 elsewhere. (Also great. But you’ll go through 4 or 5 of them by the time I’m done with my bespoke one). So what can I do to help you all understand the value of a well tailored shirt? To help you see how much it can enhance your confidence? I’m hoping that once you’ve tried one (or two), you’ll be persuaded that they’re not actually “expensive” and that they’re a good investment in yourself. You want to feel great when you head to work or that special event. Never mind the fact that you can design your own, choose your buttons, have coloured stitching, decide upon a monogram etc… How about, for the rest of the year, I offer handmade, bespoke shirts for just £89?
