Spanning thousands of years and cultures across the globe, farmers markets are rooted in our past, present, and future. Happy National Farmers Market Week! National Farmers Market Week (NFMW) starts today. How are you celebrating? Here are 3 easy ways you can join the celebration: 1. Spread the word. Encourage your community to meet you at your market and to use their social media accounts to be proud and vocal supporters of your farmers market. 2. Donate and volunteer. Many markets rely on volunteers and donations to operate. 3. Stay connected. Let's reflect on the ways farmers markets have been there for us and are leading the way for the future we want. Does giving really make you happy? A series of studies found that neurons in the portion of the brain associated with a sense of satisfaction start firing when a person chooses to donate their money or time. Volunteering is a great way to give and is truly appreciated by the recipient. These are a few ways to help out: 🐶 Walk dogs at a local animal shelter. 📚 Help kids with their homework. 🎶 Offer free lessons in something you’re good at. 🧵 Offer to sew up old clothes and stuffed toys. 💻 Provide IT help to local adults. 📖 Read to kids in local hospitals. 👵 Spend time with senior citizens in local senior centres. 🎉 Find a local fundraiser and offer to help. 🤝 Offer your skills to a non-profit organization. Or, become a member at the Rotary Club of Barrie. There are always new and exciting events we host and we would love to have volunteers like you! #RotaryClubBarrie #Volunteer

Graphic design is my passion.
Saving pigs is our passion. We forgot to save money for a #GivingTuesday graphic designer because we spent all our funds on vet bills, feed, warm bedding, and heat lamps. Consider donating to The Mini Mountain Farm Sanctuary today and help us reach out ambitious, but necessary goals: https://lnkd.in/eWcbkgGn We rely on contributions from folks like you to operate. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 99-1603587), donations to The Mini Mountain Farm Sanctuary Inc. are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. We also invite you to become a monthly donor, providing ongoing support that enables us to continue our mission of compassionate care and sustainable agriculture advocacy. #GivingSeason #CorporateDonors #SocialImpact #SocialGood #AnimalWelfare #VeganProfessionals

In our 2023 Annual Report, we take a look at trends at FISH over the past few years, particularly comparing pre-pandemic numbers to today. What we are seeing is continued growth in need, as the high cost of living paired with fewer support resources adds more and more strain for families. One area in which we have seen considerable increases is the pounds of food we distribute each year. In 2023, FISH distributed 1,560,603 pounds of food, more than any other year in our history as an organization. Our marketplace could not run without the generous support of our community. We source food from four main sources: donations from our Broomfield grocery stores and restaurant partners, Community Food Share, in-kind donations from our neighbors (which includes food drives!), and purchased food made possible by our incredible donors and by grant funding. All of these support networks allow us to stock a variety of food and personal care items for our families so they can shop for what their families need. We’re excited to share an initiative by the Peace Valley Organization aimed at combating hunger and supporting families in need. Did you know? Providing meals for an entire day in Peace Valley costs around 90,000 rupees. By sponsoring just one block for 15,000 rupees, you can make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who need it most. Here’s How You Can Help 1.Sponsor a Block: Your generous contribution ensures that a block of individuals receives nutritious meals for a day. 2.Spread the Word: Share this campaign with your friends and family to raise awareness about the importance of food security in our community. 3.Get Creative with Fundraisers: Organize events to gather support and donations. Every little bit helps! The Difference You Make: Every donation helps us provide essential nutrition, fostering hope and stability in our community. Together, we can create a brighter future for everyone in Peace Valley. If you’re interested in supporting this cause or want to learn more, we’d love to hear from you! Let’s come together to build a hunger-free Peace Valley! 💖 #FoodDonation #CommunitySupport #PeaceValley #NourishPeace

🧁🍰🎂 Let them eat cake 🎂🍰🧁 Gloucestershire colleagues. Can you help? We really, really need you to. Yesterday, my incredible team and I, along with volunteers from @BraveHCG, picked, packed, collected, carried, sorted, stacked, and stuffed our way through gift sorting and hamper filling for Caring for Communities and People #HamperScamper. We set a hamper-filling record for this year (so far). 125 hampers packed, sealed, and ready for distribution. It would have been 150 hampers. What stopped us? Not enough cake! The incredible thing about #HamperScamper is the generosity of such a wide group of people and businesses. The downside is we’re never quite sure what we’ll have lots of, and what we’ll have little. Right now, it’s everything, but most of all, cakes. Christmas Cakes, Yule Logs, Christmas Puddings. Whatever you want to donate. The grand total now stands at 500 complete. 2,500 still to source and pack. There are nowhere near enough donations in yet, and every day, every item, counts. Can you donate? Everything you need to know (what, where, how?) is here: https://lnkd.in/eBmwHASc [Video shows the 25 boxes that we’d part-filled, before we ran out of cake] #ESG #VolunteeringDay #WeAreCCP #PurposeLed #AmplifyingImpact
