Unemployment is not comfortable for anyone - it can bring financial uncertainty, pressure on relationships, stress related health issues and risk of housing issues. Military personnel commit a large portion of their time, energy and years of commitment to military service. Often undertaking roles that are like no other, are involved in situations that many can't even start to comprehend and suffer with injuries and illness that other areas of life would not bring. This is why it is important that Veterans who have given so much already have the support and guidance needed to get them into secure employment. The goal of the initiative is to raise additional funds for the Defense Forces of Ukraine. 📌 How does it work? On October 1st, Defender of Ukraine Day, invite your employees to come to work, and donate all the earned money to the Defense Forces of Ukraine. If October 1st is a working day in your company, the "1991" and "Where Hope Lives" funds invite you to donate your daily revenue/gross profit (depending on your capabilities) to the military. Life in the Armed Forces is a unique experience.⁠ ⁠ Many experiences and challenges are hard to even comprehend outside of military life.⁠ ⁠ But when you are serving you are surrounded by like minded people who "get it," with shared experiences and deeper connections and friendships as you face varying challenges together. ⁠ ⁠ This is one of the many reasons why transition from military to civilian can be so hard, with many Veterans struggling with isolation and loneliness. GOLD BEACH Gold Beach is 1st of 2, of D-Day beaches to be led by the British and was situated between Port-en-Bessin and Ver-sur-Mer the central most area of the D-Day invasion. The objectives of Gold were to secure a beachhead, capture Arromanches to link with American troops at Omaha and to capture Bayeux to link up with Canadian troops from Juno. Similar to Omaha, Gold beach was split into 2 components, an ariel and naval bombardment to clear German defences and an Infantry landing to capture the beach. In contrast to Omaha, the bombardments were highly effective in wiping out most of the German defences. The navel bombardments from HMS Ajax and HMS Argonaut proved to be extremely effectively providing pinpoint accuracy to take out 3 of the 4 artillery emplacements. Infantry landing commenced nearly an hour after the American landings due to different tides. Rough seas made it tricky for Infantry landing craft, resulting in 20 of them being sunk or damaged by mines, however this did not slow British troops much as within an hour they had secured beach exits to push further inland and by days end they had completed their objective.
