HUGO enters Roblox! We are building our HUGO universe within the biggest Metaverse platform (it is way more than "just" a gaming environment). Last week, we launched PLANET HUGO, an ecosystem of unique, interconnected experiences and a completely new way to approach entering Roblox. PLANET HUGO’s first two worlds are: 1) HUGO HANGOUT: An innovative shopping experience which will provide an ever-changing home for our digital wearables, events and player loyalty rewards. It's like the entire French population spent 12 minutes on this game in a single day. --- 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 --- Players have 5 minutes to dress according to a specific theme. After 5 minutes, there’s a fashion show where all the players showcase their styles. They need to dress to impress, because during the showcase, players rate each other from 1 to 5 stars. 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽 on Roblox A good game, but... 🥸 Hasbro launched a game on Roblox a year ago. The game is a "pet simulator", a genre that is very popular on Roblox. Currently, over 400k players are playing pet simulator games. Additionally, many games have added pets as a feature to increase engagement, as Roblox players love collecting pets. Since Pet Shop is an IP centered around pets that kids love, it has huge potential on Roblox. That's why they made a long-term bet by launching a persistent experience a year ago: • 𝟭𝟭.𝟯𝗠 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘀 • 𝟭𝟬-𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 • 𝟴𝟲% 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲'𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱 : Players explore the world and unlock areas using coins. They earn coins by doing activities with their pets, which they can collect and upgrade. Despite 11.3M visits and good average playtime, the game averaged only 5k visits per day last week, which is quite low. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗣 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗼𝘅. However, it comes down to how optimized the game is: • The map is too large for this type of game • Players lack incentives to unlock new pets • The pets' UX isn't well-suited to the context • There's not enough teasing for new pets • ... ... 💥The power of branding in the metaverse Within 24h almost 300k visitors for HUGO on Roblox , I’m checking it out now and it’s unreal 👏🏻 Brands need to prioritize building in the metaverse in 2024+ especially for younger, #genzmarketing audiences. 🚨Anyone in web3 that doesn’t know what the metaverse is, there’s a simple fix. I had no idea what the metaverse was when I started working at IMVU (1M+ DAU metaverse). The best advice I ever received was this: GO IN AND MAKE FRIENDS. Even simpler…. Spend 30 mins of your day: 1. log into Roblox 2. create your avatar 3. explore some rooms 4. make (1) friend … that’s it!

In Roblox, there are various types of experiences. Here is a list of some of the different types: 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 : Focused on combat between players. Single-player action games are rare on Roblox and generally less popular than on other platforms. 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 : A common central mechanic where gameplay revolves around seeking customization options. Often involves 'dressing up' and shopping for clothes. 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗸 : Players hide from an enemy, controlled either by another player or a non-playable character. This genre often combines puzzle elements or obstacles. 𝗢𝗯𝗯𝘆 : Shorthand for 'obstacle course', known on other platforms as a 'platformer'. It requires players to climb, jump, and navigate obstacles to reach the end of the course. 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 : Typically focused on building and exploring, with elements from other genres sometimes included. These games are more oriented towards imaginative social roleplaying than story-based RPGs found on other platforms. 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 : A genre where players perform simple, repetitive actions to make progress. The goal often involves clicking an item until it reaches its maximum level, then exchanging it for an upgraded version. Similar to 'clicker' games.
