A Life-Changing Experience at a Texas Ranch with John C. Maxwell After 31 years of living in New Jersey, I had the incredible opportunity to experience life on a Texas ranch, just outside of Austin, while learning from the world’s top leadership guru, John C. Maxwell. The contrast between the vast, open landscapes of Texas and the busy, urban energy of New Jersey was striking. But beyond the beauty of the land, what truly struck me was the abundance that surrounds us in this country—whether it's the space, the resources, or the opportunities. It made me realize just how blessed we are to live in the United States, but often, it’s easy to take that for granted. One of the most powerful lessons I learned from John C. Maxwell during this experience was the importance of perspective. Traveling the world and stepping outside of your comfort zone gives you a deeper appreciation for what you have. It’s only when we see the bigger picture that we can fully understand the incredible opportunities and abundance available to us. This experience reminded me to be more grateful, to embrace growth, and to never stop learning. If there’s one thing I’ll take away from this, it’s that leadership isn’t just about vision and strategy; it’s also about having the humility to recognize and appreciate the blessings that surround us. #Gratitude #Growth #Leadership #JohnCMaxwell #TexasRanch #Abundance #Perspective #Blessed

Leadership Lesson from the Big Tree of Rockport, Texas. I had the honor of stopping by and taking a picture with the big tree in Rockport this weekend. Can you believe this tree has survived over 50 hurricanes and is still growing? Known as the Lamar Oak or Bishop Oak, this incredible tree spans 90 feet and has a 35-foot circumference. It has outlived generations and endured countless storms along the Texas coast. It has stood for possibly 2,000 years now! It teaches us that true strength isn't always about towering above others. Although the Gulf winds stunt its growth, its girth makes it the second-largest live oak in Texas. This remarkable tree, with its ability to withstand the harshest of conditions, is a living example of resilience. It's a reminder that true greatness is often defined not by sheer height or speed but by the ability to bounce back from adversity. Leadership, like this ancient oak, is about deep roots, steady growth, and standing firm through challenges, even when progress seems slow. As leaders, it is our job to focus on reaching new heights while building a strong foundation, supporting others, and standing steadfast for what we believe in—just like the Big Tree has done for centuries. #Leadership #Resilience #Longevity #Rockport #servicefirstmtg #playbig

Echoing Mary Poppins in Dundee tomorrow. ‘Gallus’ is a Scottish word that describes that confident and cheeky swagger that characterises the nation at its best. The rest is self-explanatory. Truth is, we need new language to describe the journey we need now to take. Challenges may abound. But challenges weaken in the face of human resourcefulness. I want people to reach soaring new heights of self-belief. To realise the enormity of the talents and tools they posses - yet too often remain unrealised. Unleash that and everything is possible. I have been at the lowest of the low, then reached giddy heights of leadership. I know what it takes. I know how to light the spark. That's why I do what I do and why I never tire of doing it. Tomorrow, I speak on Dundee’s Waterfont, A major construction company is my client. My ‘Call to Action’ may be quirky and distinctive but it does evoke a response. #Inspiration #Leadership #SelfBelief #construction #motivationalspeaker #thespark

There's something powerful and unique about leadership when it is nurtured in an outdoor environment. Away from screens and boardrooms, the outdoors challenges us in unexpected ways, making us adaptable and resilient. #leadership #campjoy #getoutside https://lnkd.in/gWSV3ZP

Have You Ever Taken An Appreciation Shower? At a recent retreat at River Rose, our corporate retreat facility, an amazing group of individuals came together to discover their unique strengths and talents by creating their Genius paragraphs. One participant, Dave, a servant leader known for his humility and dedication, read his paragraph aloud. Despite his humility, the group couldn't help but shower him with genuine appreciation, highlighting his unselfish service, loyalty, and reliability. Dave, often the backbone of his company, was moved by the heartfelt feedback. As a facilitator, it's essential to allow these moments of genuine reflection and appreciation to unfold without rushing. The impact is profound, allowing individuals to feel seen and valued beyond their professional masks truly. ✨ What we often crave but rarely receive are genuine insight, feedback, and appreciation for our unique magic. Your genius is what comes naturally to you and seems like magic to others. This exercise of sharing and receiving appreciation boosts individual confidence and strengthens team cohesion. It's a simple yet powerful tool I’ve used successfully, even with the most challenging groups, fostering a deep sense of connection and mutual understanding. Explore more about this transformative process in my book, Genius Spark, and join us for our next retreat or training session to unlock your team's full potential. https://lnkd.in/g_wy7kMM #GeniusSpark #Leadership #ServantLeadership #TeamBuilding #CorporateRetreat #EmployeeAppreciation #Insight #Feedback #RiverRoseRetreat #Coaching #Training #ProfessionalDevelopment #TeamCohesion #GenuineCompliments Slayden Constructors Inc. As June comes to a close, we would like to reflect on some key moments for the Apex North Business Coaching team. We had the pleasure of co-sponsoring the 18th hole at the Minnesota Construction Association (MCA) Golf Outing with North Star Law Group PLLC. It was a fantastic day filled with great conversations, meaningful connections, and a little friendly competition. Congratulations again to the raffle winner who took home a new golf putter. Events like these remind us of the importance of community and the power of collaboration. On a personal note, our founder, Glen Dall, also completed a challenging hike down the Grand Canyon. Here’s what he had to share: “This experience was a profound reminder of the value in confronting and overcoming obstacles. Each step through the canyon reinforced the importance of facing challenges head-on, a principle that applies just as much in business as it does on the trail.” As we reflect on these experiences, let’s keep pushing ourselves to face the tough conversations and challenges that come our way. Leaning into these difficulties, rather than avoiding them, is where true growth happens. . . . Haven’t done so already? Download your copy of the CEO Playbook here: https://lnkd.in/gi-x6H5a If you’d like to schedule a time to chat about you and your business, send us a direct message or contact us on 612.504.0129. We’d love to speak with you. #Reflection #Leadership #Community #ApexNorthBusinessCoaching #FacingChallenges #NewPerspectives

CBMC Young Professionals Spotlight: Matt Knauer shares a valuable lesson learned at our Wexford team this morning: "One of the ways we can be different is to take time to really get to know those we work with. Our full presence to others is a way good to serve others." This morning's mentorship principles from Kevin Delaney, Pastor Mountain Brook Community Church and Board member Emeals Inc. How to gain true influence: 1. Humility: Build others up. How do you turn others loose to their passions? 2. Selflessness: Put the spotlight on others. 3. Consider interests of Others in Decision Making: Create Margin to get to know others. Be Curious about people. Listen. 4. Sacrifice: We naturally think of ourselves everyday. Transfer that to someone else. 5. Love others Well: They will know if you care. Suggested Reading: Philippians 2:3-4 "Lead for God's Sake" by Todd Gongwer

I never really got the analogy about the map not being the terrain! Until recently when I started using maps and compasses for my Hill & Moorland Leader training 😅 Up to this point, I've been more of a John Muir, heading out and going where I'm called and relying on my internal SatNav. When I'm using a map it kind of gets confusing because nothing is quite the same as it is on the ground. When I'm not using a map I'm more present to what's in front of me and can respond in the moment to the adventure. As with leading your business, a map can be helpful in many ways. But when you rely too heavily on left-brain planning and strategy, you can miss opportunities that are right in front of you. There needs to be plenty of space for intuition, embracing what's on the ground, and staying open to plans changing and flexing. Saying there's only one way to create success, is like saying you can only take the M5 to Cornwall. It ain't the truth. Your business needs to work for you, which means you'll need your own map. Plus creativity and resilience to navigate the ever-shifting terrain as you go 🌈 I can help with both. #WildFounders #WildLeadership #FemaleFounders #Flourish #Thrive

Mr. Holtz, let Vein Access Technologies improve the 'blood donation procedure' for your Techs and your Donors. VAT's STEM-method for the venipuncture and for the POC finger stick blood collection improve the success rate of the donation, reduces the compromise and failure rate, & improves the likelihood of a repeat donation. Current POC methods result in hemolysis of the blood sample, falsely indicating they are 'anemic', when they aren't. The new VAT method (gravity method) does NOT causes hemolysis - ACCURATE RESULTS follow. Current venipuncture methods frequently cause vein rupture, bruising, pain, fear - and sometimes long term recovery (from what should have been an inspirational donation), not to mention the occasional permanent injury. Not all veins are created equal; and not all veins should be stuck. PLEASE - THERE IS NOTHING TO LOSE by investigating VATmethod.com Or visit STEM21cVA.com for the science of it - The Science Behind the Skill of Vein Access for Blood Donation book describes it all. This is a new era for ARC, with a new leader - it's time for a new/next generation venipuncture and POC blood collection. 😊
Please join us in welcoming Cliff Holtz as the new President and CEO of the American Red Cross! Cliff steps into this role following the retirement of Gail McGovern. Together, we’ll continue to deliver help and hope to those in need, and we look forward to pursuing new and exciting opportunities under Cliff’s leadership.

#ShaBMind #CommercialLeadership #RememberTheTitans I’ve always loved the scene from Remember the Titans (2000) when Coach Boone takes the team on an early morning run to the Gettysburg battlefield. As the mist rolls in, he tells them, “This is where they fought the Battle of Gettysburg. Fifty thousand men died right here on this field, fighting the same fight that we are still fighting among ourselves today.” That moment hits hard because it’s not just about the team - it’s about legacy, perspective, and the responsibility we have to build something better for the future. Boone wasn’t just training athletes; he was challenging them to see beyond their immediate struggles and think about the bigger picture. Building for the future starts with that kind of perspective. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind, thinking only about today’s wins or challenges. But true leadership requires stepping back and asking the tough questions: What kind of legacy are we leaving? Are we building something that truly matters, or just chasing short-term success? The Titans didn’t become great by luck - they became great by choosing to rise above division and work toward something bigger than themselves. And that’s a lesson for all of us. As you think about what you’re building, take a moment to reflect: What kind of foundation are you laying? Are you focused only on what’s in front of you, or are you keeping your eyes on what’s to come? Because the future is shaped by the choices we make today. Here’s the clip of the scene: https://lnkd.in/g8Tm6M5n #DailyAnecdote #BuildingTheFuture #LeadershipWisdom #LegacyBuilding #FutureFocused #VisionaryLeadership #LongTermImpact #Teamwork #PurposeDriven #UnityInAction
