Last year was my third time celebrating #ZenoNYE, and as I look ahead to FY25, I find myself reflecting on the last three fiscal new years. In 2022, I recall feeling curious about what to expect. It was my first fiscal new year with Zeno and timing wasn’t in my favour — I was on vacation. Having joined Zeno in July 2021, only a couple weeks after the start of a new fiscal year, I wasn’t about to miss out on Zeno NYE again, so I dialled in from up north. While the event was special and engaging, participating via mobile with temperamental internet was not quite the same vibe my colleagues experienced that year; especially those in-person at our Zeno Toronto office where our fearless CEO, Barby K. Siegel, was visiting to host and broadcast Zeno NYE live from our building. Needless to say, I found myself yearning for the next fiscal to have another go at experiencing this highly anticipated moment in time. Fast forward to 2023, and sure enough, that’s when I truly felt the magic. I got to be in-person with many of my phenomenal Zeno Canada colleagues, including our inspiring President, Julie Georgas, as we reflected on the amazing global work of not only the past year, but the past 25 years of Zeno. We laughed, we cheered and we learned. I walked away feeling reenergized and tried to breathe those energetic feelings into everything that I did over the last fiscal year — smile as often as possible, cheer on team members when doing great work AND when they need encouragement, and never stop seeking opportunities to learn. Which brings me to today. FY25 is upon us and the magic of Zeno NYE lingers. The fearless and collaborative energy of Zenoids around the globe was palpable once again as we reflected and celebrated in-person and virtually. I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead and find myself leaning into three core behaviours as we enter this new year: 👀 Be curious: Make time for experiences that fuel your mind and creativity. Try new activities, seek fresh perspectives, and actively listen. 💭 Dream big: Set stretch goals, be relentless in your approach, and remember collaboration fuels success. Together, we can achieve greatness! 🧐 Think critically: Make time to assess, digest and understand. Ask thoughtful questions, and pair them with helpful suggestions. Whether you’re taking advantage of this halfway through 2024 moment to reset or entering a new fiscal like us, I hope you’ll take some Zeno NYE energy with you. Let the new FY magic begin!

As we celebrate Dussehra, it’s a great time to think about the lessons this festival teaches us. Beyond the colorful celebrations and the burning of Ravana, Dussehra reminds us of our inner struggles and the need for self-improvement. The main lesson is about the victory of good over evil. Just like Lord Rama defeated Ravana, we must work on overcoming our negative traits like anger, greed, and ego. Dussehra encourages us to reflect on ourselves and identify qualities we want to change. It’s a reminder to be resilient in the face of challenges; life will test us, but we can grow stronger through our experiences. This festival also highlights the importance of community and togetherness. Let’s support each other and celebrate our relationships. Lastly, Dussehra symbolizes hope and new beginnings, giving us a chance to set new goals and become better versions of ourselves.
