Quick thinking, using a Cola's compressed Carbon Dioxide to put out a fire. 🤔 When you open a can or bottle of cola, you might notice a fizzing sound. That fizz is caused by carbon dioxide (CO2) gas that's been compressed and dissolved into the liquid. Now, when it comes to putting out fires, carbon dioxide is actually really helpful. Using cola's compressed CO, to put out a fire works by rapidly releasing a large volume of gas that displaces oxygen and cools down the fuel, effectively suffocating the flames and stopping the fire from spreading. 🎥: maythesciencebewithyou

'Tis the season for a few festive libations, so imagine if there was a technology that could take one beer and create four. That technology doesn't exist, obviously, but it's basically what a heat pump does when it turns energy into heat. As Saul Griffith explains, because burning things is very inefficient, gas hot water systems lose energy in the process of creating heat. Heat pumps transfer heat from the surrounding air to heat the water and are around three or four times more efficient than gas. That means they need less energy to do the same thing. Cheers to that.

If you leave your boiler on when you’re not home, then you’re wasting a lot of energy creating heat that no one is using. You can be much more efficient by installing a timer that will switch off the boiler when heat isn’t needed.

Every year over 20,000 people are injured (in the U.S alone) in ladder related accidents. Through the use of wifi-enabled low energy door operators, Norton Rixson is working to lower that number by giving installers the ability to do the setup and fine tuning from the ground. Saving time and maintaining a safer environment with fewer trips up and down the ladder. Click on the link below to learn more about wifi-enabled low energy operators! https://loom.ly/K3ULw74

Just like circuit breakers prevent electrical circuits in buildings from overloading, they can also help manage our internal systems. 💡 When the loops and cycles within us aren't working correctly, an internal circuit breaker helps detect and halt these malfunctions, allowing us to reset and prepare for what's next. This principle is especially valuable for managing our emotions and bodily sensations. By acting as a circuit breaker, we can respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively to emotional triggers, enabling us to experience and release emotions healthily. Breathing is key here. When you feel a surge of energy, take a breath. Pause. Stop any additional energy from coming in and choose the response that aligns with your desired feelings. Are you using your breath as your internal circuit breaker? #Breathing #Intentionality #MakeYourMiracle
