Let's talk about how to be proactive with the heating and cooling of your home. Did you know that air sealing your attic can enhance energy efficiency? It helps maintain a consistent temperature in your home, benefits your heating and cooling system, and saves you money. Even with insulation, an unsealed attic can allow hot air to seep into your cooled home during the summer and cold air to enter during the winter. For the best results on your home, you'll want to air seal your attic before adding more insulation. You've heard us talk about air source heat pumps (a lot!) but how do they actually work? Here’s a step by step on how it heats your home: 🌡️ The outdoor unit pulls in air, where a refrigerant absorbs heat, even in cold weather! The refrigerant evaporates into a gas. 💨 This gas is then compressed, making it super hot and high-pressure. 🔥 The hot gas moves to the indoor unit, releasing its heat to warm your home. The refrigerant cools back into a liquid. ❄️The cool liquid refrigerant passes through an expansion valve, drops in pressure and temperature, and is ready to absorb more heat! As the temperature turns, heating your home will be on your mind.
