Hiring in Q4 puts you ahead of your competitors scrambling to hire in Q1. Most companies hit pause during the holidays, planning to ramp up hiring in January. Big mistake. While they’re waiting, other companies are hiring—and so should you. Waiting until Q1 means competing with everyone else, while people are slowly getting back into the swing of things after the New Year. Why not get ahead now? The best talent doesn’t wait. Neither should you.

3 Things to Do Before You Even Think About Hiring (That Most Don’t! 🛑) After 15 years in SaaS recruitment, I have helped build teams for 100's of high growth VC/PE backed businesses, including 16 Unicorns. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly. One of the biggest mistakes I see companies make is hiring before they are ready or even need to. They are so busy doing the day job, that they forget to set the right foundations for hiring and hire before they need to. I am not talking about what you need to do in order to go to market with a new role, this is even before that. This is deciding if you even need to hire at all. Before you bring in that next superstar, here are 3 things you MUST do (That most don't); 1️⃣ Define Your Business Objectives First Understand where your business is headed in the next 12–24 months. Don’t hire to fill gaps—hire to achieve strategic goals, does this hire do that? 2️⃣ What problem will this role solve? If you can’t tie this hire to a direct pain point or strategic need, you’re not ready to hire. 3️⃣ Can my current team cover the gap? Consider whether a temporary solution, reassigning responsibilities, or upskilling can fill the need in the short term. If you do these 3 things then you will know much more clearly if you need to hire. This helps prevent mis-hires and growing too quickly. Anything you would add?
