I thought starting a recruitment consultancy/agency would be easy. Let me tell you it was NOT. Especially when I decided to grow it beyond just me. There's so much to think about. Through the crap of dealing with rubbish clients, not charging enough and hiring people in my team that weren't right, I've learnt more about myself. Boundaries! This word comes up so much when I'm sat thinking. Having boundaries with the clients and those who work in the team here but also in life. I think we forget that we can't be all things to everyone. Managing a team of people as an employee vs managing your own business and hiring a team is totally different. For one I find I'm emotionally involved which makes it harder to see the wood for the trees at times. And for that reason I've made bad hiring decisions and onboarded clients I should have said no to. But one thing I've got right - I can make a difference in the recruitment world in a positive way with the way we work with our clients and those looking for a move. We do what we do because we make a difference to people, whether that's saving hiring managers time and mental space, or getting people into a job that aligns with their career goals. #hr #cleanenergy #renewables #electricvehicle
