Biden's time in White House includes 48 YEARS' worth of vacations By World Net Daily on September 7, 2024 This story was originally published by the WND News Center. Joe Biden has been taking criticism over the last few weeks for taking one vacation after another. In fact, after the Democrat National Convention he left for one vacation. Then went from that vacation immediately to another. Some of that likely is because he's on his way out of the administration, having been pushed out of the 2024 campaign by elites in the Democrat party who picked Kamala Harris as his replacement. But the recent lengthy string of holidays for Biden isn't even the worst of the problem, according to Washington Examiner columnist Paul Bedard. He reveals that Biden, in fact, has taken "48 years worth of vacation in three years." That's the opposite direction from what most Americans go in their vacations. "Americans continue to deprive themselves of vacations, taking an average of 11 days a year, even fewer than the famous workaholics in Japan," he said. "Expedia's Annual Vacation Deprivation Report showed that Americans, on average, get 12 paid days off a year but don't even take all that. In Japan, workers take 12 days off annually. The travel firm said that many Americans claim that they are too busy for a break." The report said Americans are nearly twice as likely to go a year or more between vacations, 32% compared to 18% globally. Not so with Joe. "Biden has spent 532 days on vacation in less than four years, according to RNC Research," the report said. "Using Expedia's average of time off Americans take, Biden's tally is the equivalent of over 48 years of vacations — 48.3 years, to be exact." for rest, go to... https://lnkd.in/gzcTvgCx

Is that due to poor planning, too much work or another reason? What can we all do to make sure everyone utilizes the leave they have accrued? Taking time off doesn't mean going on a vacation. It could also be used to work a half day, spending time with friends and family, or simply an afternoon to yourself watching your favorite show. https://lnkd.in/g-K_QH-a #AnnualLeave

Summer is right around the corner, which makes me think vacations. I’m curious: as a lawyer, what type of vacationer are you? 1. Vacation? What’s a vacation? It’s impossible to take a vacation as a lawyer. The insane hours you must put in to be out of the office for a week and then come back to a mountain that has piled up while you were gone is not worth the time out of the office. 2. Vacation… sounds good in theory…. There you are at the airport check-in counter suitcases unzipped, redistributing the weight because you packed up client files, your laptop, and maybe a law book to go with you. You don’t want to feel guilty for missing vacation with your family and you don’t want to feel guilty for not working (or maybe you have a deadline to meet during that week). Solution – move your office with you and work most of the time. 3. Vacation! Yes, but …. You still keep a pulse on what’s going on, checking email throughout the day and mentally staying connected to work. You will drop what you are doing and prioritize responding to an important email during family lunch or take an afternoon to knock out some work. At least you have a beach view! 4. Vacation… argh… your spouse has gotten on your case about working on vacation so this time you promise not to work on vacation. But it is stressful doing this for the first time and you are irritable and tense, worried about work. Maybe you sneak and check email once in a while to get a fix or alleviate your anxiety. You “vacationed” but it wasn’t enjoyable. For anyone. You did see, however, that the world doesn’t end if you take time away from work. 5. You fully embrace vacation. You take that 10-day family cruise through the Greek isles fully disconnected. You leave that laptop at home so it couldn't taunt or tempt you. You put your OOO notice on and are committed to being on vacation. Work will be there when you return. You enjoyed your vacation, so did your family, and you return to work energized to get back to it. (Client success story.) 😎 Summer is coming up. Are you taking the types of vacations you want to? If not, know that you have the power to make changes to make it happen! And yes, you CAN take fully disconnected vacations a lawyer. 📷: It’s been a while since we did a beach vacation. This last beach trip was very cold and windy, the water was freezing, and we couldn’t get in it due to a jellyfish infestation. We did, however, enjoy riding horses on the beach, collecting shells, and making bonfires on the beach at night.

These Country’s Citizens Take the Fewest Vacations in the World! According to Expedia's 24th annual Vacation Deprivation Report, released in June, about half of Americans don't plan on using all their time off this year (53%), despite receiving just 12 days off annually—the fewest of any country surveyed. Expedia has been analyzing time-off trends around the world for 24 years, and while American vacation deprivation (defined as the feeling of not having enough time off) has now hit an 11-year high at 65% 😳 Here are a few comparisons from other countries, courtesy of Expedia: Japan: American and Japanese workers take a similar number of days off each year (11 and 12, respectively), but surprisingly Japan boasts the lowest vacation deprivation levels in the world (53%). Based on the survey, this could be attributed to Japanese workers taking more frequent, short vacations and prioritizing relaxation during their getaways. France: No one vacations quite like the French, taking the most days off in the world (29) and 2.5 times more than Americans. There's an emphasis culturally on the fundamental right to rest, which more French workers view vacations as a basic right. Hong Kong: Hong Kong was the only market surveyed where respondents didn't leave vacation days unused but took more time off on average than they were allocated, and 15% vow to do it again in 2024, the highest globally. Expedia first commissioned Vacation Deprivation in the year 2000 to examine the work-life balance of people worldwide. The annual study is currently in its 24th year and was conducted online among 11,580 respondents across the U.S., UK, Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. The survey took place from March 26 to April 3, 2024 on behalf of Expedia by Harris Research Partners, a global strategic research firm, and responses were gathered using an amalgamated group of best-in-class panels.

Now in its 24th year, the latest Vacation Deprivation Report is just out from Expedia, and it shows again that Americans just can’t seem to prioritize travel the way other countries do. 😔 Americans struggle to use up just 12 days. And, compared to the rest of the world, Americans are nearly twice as likely to go a year or more between vacations (32% vs. 18% globally). Of the 53% of Americans that didn’t use all their time off last year, the top reason why was “life is too busy to plan or go on vacation.” https://lnkd.in/e_5ky4Bc

Vacations always take too long to arrive. And they go by way too fast. With the summer months fast approaching, it's time to think about vacations, breaks, and relaxing. We are halfway through the year….are you halfway through using your PTO? I don’t know about you, but I like to always have my next reprieve planned. And I say reprieve rather than vacation because sometimes it's just a weekend away, or a weekend at home with no plans, or an afternoon off to do something fun. You know I love my career, but I also cherish time to reconnect. Sometimes, that reconnection is with my kids, who are away at school. Sometimes, it's with my boyfriend, whom I don’t always get to see through the week, and sometimes, it's just with myself. I love booking trips to ensure I get time to relax, refresh, and renew. But I also love a good, quiet afternoon on my couch reading a book—just enough of a reprieve to break away from the norm. But inevitably, the vacation that I’ve been looking forward to for weeks, or maybe even months, especially the ones that last a week or more, is over before I realize it. How does that happen? That extraordinary moment in time that I have been anticipating is gone so quickly. The anticipation is almost a part of the vacation itself. I get mini vacations, picturing myself on vacation – and imagining all the fun and relaxing things I will do. We all need a break. I hope your next getaway is scheduled, whether it's a 12-hour flight or an afternoon with your favorite novelist. However you get there, I hope you enjoy every moment. What’s your ideal way to reconnect? Does it involve a larger vacation or something more simple?

I guess I am sticking with the theme of vacation with my LinkedIn posts today! It is not surprising to me that Americans take the fewest vacation days globally, but on the flip side, given how many candidates we partner with who negotiate for more vacation it does shock me a bit! #careers #benefits #vacation #hiring #uhy
