It’s not the brewery or bar or taproom or beer; sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. It feels great. It feels warm. It feels alive. And there’s nothing quite the same. It’s the overall experience. People write about it, but they don’t really know. They strategize — for you — without knowing themselves. Using data won’t cure what ails ‘ya. Using strong ‘data’ that’s aged more than five years won’t either. * we use data that’s in real time, automatically comparing this to datasets that are no more than three years old * “Sometimes you wanna’ go Where everybody knows your name And they're always glad you came You wanna’ be where you can see Our troubles are all the same You wanna’ be where everybody knows your name …” Create that brewery, and you’re golden, Create that taproom, and it’ll live forever. Just follow the yellow brick road, and take a course of action that will lead to good things. “We’re not in Kansas anymore.” — Glenda the Good Witch Realtime data: It’s what for breakfast. Events on a budget! One of the least expensive events is a potluck. You may have memories of jello salads with a backyard BBQ. In today's modern environment, the potluck is more elevated and sophisticated. Online invitations allow your guests to comment on what they will bring, making duplicates less likely. Trick... with your event reminders, include how much of what food or beverage is already coming and make requests. Recently, I managed a potluck charcuterie happy hour. Every guest was to bring their favorite charcuterie item. One week before the event, there were 9 cheeses, 3 jams, and one meat. I sent my reminder and asked for wine, meats, fruit, and crackers. The day of the happy hour, I had 4 bottles of wine, 2 generous cracker displays, apples, red and green grapes, and 3 more protein options. For the event, I put out beautiful silver platters, make your own tags to label the items, cutting and spreading knives, a few espresso spoons for the jams, wine glasses, and a corkscrew. I also added a small chocolate fountain and dipping items for a sweet treat. Put on some music (I like Bing Crosby and other crooners), dimmed the lights a bit, and Voila! The perfect modern potluck happy hour! Your updated potluck can be easy, inexpensive, and modern using these tricks of the trade. Party on! We Plan. You Celebrate. There’s little debate that West Michigan’s craft beer scene is one of the best in the country. And while Grand Rapids may hold the moniker of “Beer City, USA” — the entire region feeds into the phenomenon, including Comstock’s famous Bell’s Brewery. I gravitate to Michigan’s beachtowns — in particular, my “customized” Western Michigan Craft Beer tour. I love the unique blend of bitterness in a robust IPA, the creamy foam of a dark stout, and every shade and flavor in between. I’ll be based in Saugatuck in late May — for 10 days (it’s okay, you can hate me) and you’ll find me in many, many brewery’s from South Haven, Grand Haven, Holland, Benton Harbor, Silver Lake and many, many more from Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, St. Joseph and then some. I’d name more towns and breweries but I don’t want you to think I have a drinking problem 🤓 What are your work vacation plans this spring and/or summer? “Vacation, all I ever wanted Vacation, had to get away ...” — The Go-Go’s Source: Beerconomy #Michigan #Beachtowns #Beer #CraftBeer #NonAlcoholicBeer #Cider #Microbreweries #Taprooms #Brewpubs Slàinte☘️! ✦✦✦ Stephen Carter King Chief of Growth and Marketing and Strategy and ‘The Beerconomist’ + CEO of Beerconomy • Market Analyst • Speaker • Futurist & Author • with beer market trends, insights, data and forecasts Publisher: The Beerconomist

This is one of my favorite slides to dive into on the BA Harris Poll Presentation. You can easily read and understand the chart below. So let's skip right to actions. 1. FLAVOR is the top reason people are NOT drinking more craft. Since beer has nearly infinite flavor presentations - this is a perception issue. Many consumers (especially younger) associate #craftbeer directly with #IPA. To be fair, that's kind of our bad. Time to really communicate the diversity of flavors craft brewers can create and push the idea that there really is a beer for (almost) everyone! This is NOT an instant demand switch. It will take time and effort. 2. The 21 - 34 Cohort believes they already have all of the information they need to make a decision so this comes down to positioning your products into their lifestyles vs serving up category education. We should expect that for the maturity of our market. 3. Lower and Higher alcohol are both growing requests creating a bit of a camel hump for ABV demand especially with the younger generation. Clearly articulate what you're offering and try to have something for both demands. 4. Carbonation is getting a lot of attention in trend reports but did not register super high on this survey. There is a decent difference between the age cohorts, but it does not appear to be at a point where you can really capitalize. If you go all in on low or no carbonation now it's a high risk proposition. 5. No one is claiming that the products are unavailable. That means craft has done a good job as a category on distribution. You may be fighting your own battles for attention within the industry, but the consumer is NOT looking for more placements. So your battle has shifted to craft on craft for shelf space whether you want it to or not.

🍻 The 90s/2000s were a golden age for the craft beer industry -- the streets were flowing with IPAs and amber ales while Chumbawamba was blasting on the radio... simpler times. Fast forward to today and a more mature industry has hit some speed bumps. Today, breweries need more than just great beer to succeed. They need to create a memorable brand and experiences for guests that keep them coming back -- that's where tech can come into play. Think innovations like digital draft tickets, loyalty programs that offer more than just points, and AI-driven upselling — plus a healthy dose of community building on social media. Read our latest article for some tech tips and tactics to keep your brewery buzzing. https://lnkd.in/gFn-ZzYv #brewerytech #beerindustry #craftbeer #craftbeerindustry
