What do you call a team that's better than high-performing? No, it's not new material for my stand-up routine, it's a serious question I've been pondering over the last few weeks. We've recently been working with lots of teams who could genuinely already be considered as high-performing. Typically, they: ▪️ are aligned on their purpose and desired results. ▪️ are clear about what they are individually, and collectively, accountable and responsible for and how each of them can enable the others’ success. ▪️ have high levels of psychological safety. Sounds pretty strong, right? But what if, in the words of Jim Collins, they are trying to go from “good to great”? What else is needed? What we've seen that creates that magic is: ▪️ deep trust: Trust that each person is performing their role to the best of their ability - even if their skills and personalities are poles apart. ▪️ high support levels: an adaptability to cover parts of other team members’ roles to create space and extra bandwidth when needed. ▪️ high challenge: they enable an environment that is stimulating and innovative whilst also considered. ▪️ complete care: They 💯 care about not only the success of the team but the personal success, wellbeing, and personal lives of their team members. We call this a Consciously Cohesive Team (CoCo Team for short)! I would like to say a huge thanks to my own CoCo Team for last week: · Ed Beard for being my delivery partner in Zurich, partnering with me to enable me to operate at my best. · Natalie Saunders for going solo on our co-hosted CPO breakfast with Catherine Osaigbovo. · Derek Bishop, James Bacon, and Paul Longshaw for ensuring that we fulfilled part of our social value promise by doing the sleepout for Centrepoint. · The Culture Consultancy core team for being the behind-the-scenes heroes who keep the wheels on the road back at base. #HighPerformingTeams #GoodToGreat #Teamwork #CultureChange Alana Slater Amy Allen Sorawi Phongsakonsunthon Janine Dierks Sapna Shah

Celebrating Collective Wins : Why It Matters For Team Success 🎉 What is the difference between a good team and a GREAT team? I’ve always asked myself this question. Whether in sports, in the workplace, or even in a school project, teams are formed. So, what are the main ingredients to achieve great results and have a committed and happy team? I did some quick research, and one of the things I found is that research consistently highlights the extensive benefits of acknowledging shared accomplishments. Regularly celebrating team achievements can significantly boost morale, strengthen resilience, and enhance overall well-being, while also providing benefits to the broader community. That’s why acknowledging group successes isn’t just about having a good time; it’s a powerful strategy for improving teamwork and performance. Here are the main benefits: —> Fostering Shared Identity: Collective pride and joy during significant events create a shared sense of identity and unity. —> Enhancing Resilience: Studies have shown how collective rituals in teams boost resilience and communal coping, which is essential for managing stress and building cohesion. —> Boosting Psychological Well-Being: Group assemblies meet social needs, reduce loneliness, and enhance overall positive emotions. —> Building Social Capital: Collective identity and trust contribute to social capital, reinforcing cooperation and effectiveness within organizations. How does your team celebrate collective wins? Tell me about your experiences and share some tips! #teamwork #performance #collective #workplace
