"Equity over Equality" Let me unpack what this means. Equality suggests treating everyone exactly the same, providing identical resources or opportunities to all. But in reality, not everyone starts from the same place, nor do they have the same needs or challenges. Equity, on the other hand, acknowledges these differences and strives to provide each individual with what they need to thrive. In my journey as a leader, I've learned the importance of understanding the unique circumstances of those I work with. It's about recognizing that fairness isn't always achieved by treating everyone identically, but rather by addressing their specific needs and circumstances. Incorporating equity into leadership isn't always straightforward. It requires empathy, active listening, and a willingness to challenge the status quo. But the impact it can have on individuals and communities is immeasurable. #equityoverequality #Ieadership #diversity #empowerment

What does good practice look like? How do we assess inclusion and engagement? What makes someone an inclusive leader? All these questions can be really challenging to give difinitive answers to. But identifing behaviours which maintain inequalities and fail to achieve the stated outcomes, that is much easier. Many organisations sabortarge their own progress in the achievement of Diversity Goals.
